A faceplate system that removably mounts interchangeable connector mounting inserts. The system uses a faceplate frame having mounting rails with access notches and rectangular connector mounting inserts that have corner legs and spacer walls at their ends. The legs have ledge surfaces slidingly engage the under sides of the mounting rails, and the spacer walls slidingly engage the upper sides of the mounting rails. The legs gain access to the under sides of the rails through the rail notches.

Faceplate system

A cable management unit having a tray-divider/rack mount tray adapted to mate with a clamp/cable organizer. The clamp/cable organizer has a several mounting ears adapted to mate with a corresponding number of slide receipt openings in the tray-divider/rack mount tray. The tray-divider/rack mount tray includes a generally planar base, the base containing a plurality of openings to accommodate a plurality of bundling straps, two slide sections, each of the slide sections being formed as downward vertical extensions to the base and extending at a ninety degree angle from the base and each including a slide receipt opening, and two sets of mounting ears, each one of the sets formed from a corresponding slide section, each one of the sets providing attachment means to a rack.

Cable management unit

In general, in one aspect, the invention features a fastener having two mating pieces. One of the mating has a rigid surface of thickness q, and a hole in the surface, the hole including a slot defined by two generally parallel edges separated by a distance r. The other mating piece has a base and a pair of wings held above the base to define two generally parallel channels spaced to accommodate the two parallel edges of the slot, the channels having a thickness greater than q, the span of the wings being greater than r.

Fastening

A wall or room partition mountable modular rail rack component mounting system. The system includes wall racks shaped for interlocking engagement with each other at their opposite ends and cross stiffener members for placement between the wall rails to hold them in rigid space apart relationship. The wall rails each having a shaped opening at one end and a mating element at the other end thereof. The shaped opening and the mating element interlock with each other. The dimensions and spacings of openings and elements on the wall rails and rail racks for mounting thereon provide for rail racks mounted in vertically aligned closely space relationship that gives uninterrupted rail rack placement.

Wall mountable modular component mounting system

Apparatus for patching cables includes a panel 10, FIG. 2 having a patch side for exposing patching connectors, and a punch-down side opposite the patch side for exposing punch-down terminals associated with the connectors. A bracket 12, FIG. 2 supports the panel in a vertical position with the patch side exposed to users. Pivots attach one edge of the panel to the bracket so that the panel can be tilted about the pivot into a position in which the patch side is no longer exposed to users and the punch-down side is exposed to users. There is a supporting surface 40, FIG. 2 for supporting the patch side, when tilted, sufficiently to permit punching down of wires on the punch-down side. The panel may include color coded marking on the patch side for classifying the connector application.

Patch panel system

A modular system for supporting equipment on a wall has support panels. Each panel includes a sheet having columns of keyholes, and a rear support surface lying in a plane parallel to and spaced behind the sheet. The rear support surface has keyholes near the top of the panel and fastener elements near the bottom of the panel. The fastener elements have the same spacing as the keyholes near the top of the panel. The fastener elements project from the plane of the rear support surface toward the front support surface to permit mating with keyholes near the top of another panel to be hung below it.

Modular equipment support system

A card cage formed of mating, identical halves provides parallel slots for circuit boards carrying snap-on retainer clips with integral pawl-like clasps which lock over ridges on the exterior of the card cage. The clip is released from the cage by squeezing the clasps with one hand before withdrawing the circuit board. Slotted side brackets capture mating ribs on the card cage halves to assemble and mount the card cge to a wiring clost panel.

An EMI/RFI shielded printed circuit board housing of compact design suitable for computer system products (such as, e.g., bridges and repeaters) permits such products to be used on office work surfaces or in a wall-mounted, high density storage system within an office environment. The housing has a five-sided printed-circuit-board container with a back wall defining at least on window for exposing an electrical connector that requires access from the exterior of the container, a removable front cover, a removable trough-shaped rear cover for covering the container back wall and protecting the exposed connector located thereat. The back wall is equipped with support features for permitting the housing to be supported in the high density storage system during use. The container and front cover have a plurality of interior surfaces coated with an EMI/RFI shielding material. In other aspects of the invention, the housing has printed-circuit-board-support features for precisely positioning and supporting the printed-circuit-board within the housing in such a way as to avoid contact between the printed circuit board circuitry and the EMI/RFI-shielding material. In addition, the housing has a connector-access button defining a recessed interior volume into which extends a male electrical connector mounted on the printed circuit board.

A mounting system for the installation of communication termination blocks and communication boxes ('system blocks') on a backplane substantially reduces space requirements for a communications center. The system includes a system block that quickly and removably mounts to a slot in a track. A locking slide either automatically or manually engages the block to hold it securely in place, both mechanically and electrically. Lifting the locking slide releases the block. The block includes an elongated hook that provides lateral support for the block during installation and removal to ensure proper mating of electrical conductors.

A modular patch panel has a snap-together frame that retains a plurality of faceplates. The faceplates are adapted to receive modules which hold electrical elements, such as, for example, various plugs and electrical connectors.

A modular faceplate system having four levels of modularity includes a standard faceplate, a plurality of secondary support members, and a plurality of modules. The faceplate may be secured to a variety of support structures such as an outlet box, a modular box and a wall box. The faceplate has an elongated opening formed therein for the secondary support members. The secondary support members support the various different modules in various configurations. The modules can support a variety of electrical devices including plugs and electrical connectors. The faceplate, secondary support members and modules all include snap-type fastening means such that a desired faceplate configuration can be assembled from the component parts without the use of hardware.
