A device launcher can be carried and be used to launch a device by an airborne UAV against an airborne or ground target. The target can be a moving target with the device configured to slow or disable the movement of the target. The device can be triggered manually or through an automated targeting system. The launch apparatus can be configured to launch a single device or a plurality of devices. The device launched against the target can be separated from the launch vehicle or tethered to the launch vehicle. The device can be a net that entangles the rotors of a rotor-driven vehicle. The device can include a parachute to retard movement of target vehicle whether it is falling or if it continues to move. A method of patrolling a perimeter with an airborne vehicle includes the steps of moving the airborne vehicle within the perimeter to sense unauthorized targets and launching a device against those sensed targets.

Colored clay particles are prepared by the absorption of pigments, such as dyes, on the surface of clays. The surface of the clay can be modified with a surfactant such that a dye can be well bound to the particle's surface to avoid leaching of the dye into water. The colored clay particles can be used to deter insects, such as the Asian Citrus Psyllid (ACP), by coating a plant, such as a citrus plant, with the colored clay particles. The reflectance of the visible and ultraviolet light can be altered by the choice of dyes such that the spectrum visible to the insect deters the insect from the plant.

A valve stem connector assembly, which connects a lead screw of a globe valve actuator to a valve stem of a globe valve, includes a retainer secured to the lead screw. The retainer includes a retainer body and at least one cam rotatably secured to the retainer. The valve stem connector assembly further includes a retainer latch coupled to the lead screw and the retainer. The retainer latch is configured to move from a normally unlocked position in which the valve stem is unsecured from the lead screw and a locked position in which the retainer latch moves toward the retainer to rotate the at least one cam to secure the valve stem to the lead screw. This invention generally relates to liquid phase oxidation processes for making N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine (also known in the agricultural chemical industry as glyphosate) and related compounds. This invention, for example, particularly relates to processes wherein an N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid (NPMIDA) substrate (i.e., N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid, a salt of N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid, or an ester of N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid) is continuously oxidized to form an N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine product (i.e., N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine, a salt of N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine, or an ester of N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine). This invention also, for example, particularly relates to processes wherein an N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid substrate is oxidized to form an N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine product, which, in turn, is crystallized (at least in part) in an adiabatic crystallizer.

A shoulder launched unmanned reconnaissance system for providing overhead visual surveillance of remote targets is disclosed. The present system includes a reconnaissance air vehicle which may be fired from a portable launcher, accelerated to flight speed, and remotely controlled using a ground control system. The vehicle is flown to the target area to enable an onboard wide angle video system to transmit video images of the target by radio or fiber optics link to the ground control system for processing and display. The ground control system enables the reconnaissance vehicle to be flown to a recovery area and to descend in a stall mode after the flight is completed for maintenance prior to reuse. The air vehicle includes collapsible wings which are deployable after launch by a spring actuated mechanism. The fuselage of the air vehicle carries an onboard video camera, an electric motor, a battery, a global positioning system receiver, flight controls, and a data link system. In an alternative embodiment, the fuselage of the air vehicle includes a storage bay with a rotary mechanism capable of deploying sensors for chemical and biological warfare agents or other dropable payloads such as dye markers for marking fleeing motor vehicles. The present system is capable of conducting overhead surveillance up to a range of approximately 10 kilometers.

A locking mechanism for securing the upper swinging edge corner of a door to the adjacent door jamb joint comprises a housing holding a flat sliding latch mounted at an angle on the door corner. The latch slides toward and past the door corner and has converging leading edges normal to each other such that they meet at an apex. One leading edge is parallel with the top of the door and the other leading edge is parallel with the swinging side of the door. Receiver means are contained in the corner of the door jamb having receiving channels in alignment with the leading edges of the latch such that when the latch is pushed forward in the housing, the leading edges of the latch are received into and held in the receiving channels. Forces exerted against the locking mechanism when the latch is secured in the receiving channels are distributed along both the top and side edges of the door and door jamb instead of at a single pressure point.
