An assembly integrates an aft wing spar root fitting to an aircraft fuselage when joining the aircraft wing to the aircraft body. The assembly provides structural strength to the connection between the aircraft wing and the aircraft body, provides corrosion prevention and provides improved inspection capabilities and repair capabilities to the aircraft wing and aircraft body connection.

Assembly and method connecting an aircraft wing aft spar root to an aircraft body fuselage

Embodiments for commercial freighter configuration for aircraft with composite wings. One embodiment is cargo floor structure for a wing center section of an aircraft. The cargo floor structure includes over wing floor beams extending longitudinally between a rear spar and a front spar of the aircraft. The over wing floor beams are coupled with an upper skin panel of a composite wing. The cargo floor structure also includes intercostals extending spanwise across the over wing floor beams. The intercostals suspended over the upper skin panel of the composite wing. The cargo floor structure also includes a truss box structure disposed between a middle pair of the over wing floor beams and configured to shear a spanwise load from the intercostals into the upper skin panel of the composite wing.

Freighter configuration for aircraft with composite wings

A monolithic joint system for a fuselage to wing joint in an aircraft is provided. The joint system comprises a first vertical flange, a base plate, a second vertical flange, and damage containment features associated with at least one of these components. The first vertical flange is configured to connect to a fuselage section of the aircraft and the second vertical flange is configured to connect to a rib web of a wing, while the base plate attaches outboard wing to inboard wing box. The first vertical flange, the base plate, and the second vertical flange are formed from a continuous piece of material. The damage containment features are configured to slow propagation of an active crack tip in the joint system during operation of the aircraft. Thus, the illustrative embodiments provide a one-piece joint system for the fuselage to wing joint of an aircraft.

Monolithic wing to side body upper chord assembly for aircraft

A side of body carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite rib assembly that is formed by connecting an aft CFRP rib web, a middle CFRP rib web, and a forward CFRP rib web together. The side of body CFRP rib assembly includes a plurality of stiffeners connected to the aft CFRP rib web, the middle CFRP rib web, or the forward CFRP rib web. A first stiffener connects the aft CFRP rib web with the middle CFRP rib web and a second stiffener connected the forward CFRP rib web to the middle CFRP rib web. The stiffeners may be connected via fasteners or may be co-bonded or co-cured with the side of body CFRP rib web. The stiffeners connected to the side of body CFRP rib assembly may include more than one shape and may be aluminum, a thermoset, and/or a thermoplastic.

Aircraft main landing gear drag brace backup fitting assemblies and related methods are described herein. An example aircraft wing disclosed herein includes a rear spar having a rear side and a front side opposite the rear side, a side-of-body rib coupled to the rear spar, a rib post disposed on the front side of the rear spar, where the rib post is to couple a second rib to the rear spar, a side-of-body fitting coupled to the side-of-body rib, an intercostal member coupled between the side-of-body fitting and the rib post, and a drag brace fitting disposed on the rear side of the rear spar. The drag brace fitting is coupled to the rib post and the side-of-body fitting via a first plurality of fasteners extending through the rear spar.

Aircraft main landing gear drag brace backup fitting assemblies and related methods

A stiffened panel comprises a composite panel, and a stiffener including a base flange on the composite panel. The base flange is tapered towards the panel. The stiffened panel further comprises a composite overwrap layer on only the composite panel and a tapered surface of the base flange.
