Disclosed are dimming assemblies and display systems for reducing artifacts produced by optically-transmissive displays. A system may include a substrate upon which a plurality of electronic components are disposed. The electronic components may include a plurality of pixels, a plurality of conductors, and a plurality of circuit modules. The plurality of pixels may be arranged in a two-dimensional array, with each pixel having a two-dimensional geometry corresponding to a shape with at least one curved side. The plurality of conductors may be arranged adjacent to the plurality of pixels. The system may also include control circuitry electrically coupled to the plurality of conductors. The control circuitry may be configured to apply electrical signals to the plurality of circuit modules by way of the plurality of conductors.

Geometries for mitigating artifacts in see-through pixel arrays

The systems and methods described can include approaches to calibrate head-mounted displays for improved viewing experiences. Some methods include receiving data of a first target image associated with an undeformed state of a first eyepiece of a head-mounted display device; receiving data of a first captured image associated with deformed state of the first eyepiece of the head-mounted display device; determining a first transformation that maps the first captured image to the image; and applying the first transformation to a subsequent image for viewing on the first eyepiece of the head-mounted display device.

Compensation for deformation in head mounted display systems

Described herein are embodiments of fiber scanning systems and methods of scanning optical fibers. The disclosed systems and methods advantageously provide an improvement to the scanning range, the oscillation amplitude, and/or the maximum pointing angle for an optical fiber in a fiber scanning system by inducing a buckling of a portion of the optical fiber.

An example apparatus includes an optical fiber, an actuator, and a joint mechanically coupling the actuator to the optical fiber. The joint includes a neck extending along an axis. The optical fiber is threaded through an aperture extending along the axis through the neck. The optical fiber is attached to the joint at a surface of the neck facing the axis. The joint also includes a collar extending along the axis. The actuator is mechanically attached to the joint at an inner surface of the collar facing the axis. The joint also includes a flexural element extending radially from the neck to the collar. During operation, the joint couples a force from the actuator to the optical fiber to vary an orientation of a portion of the optical fiber extending from the neck with respect to the axis.

Mechanical joint for use in fiber optic imaging systems

An exercise machine that enables an exerciser to perform golf club swings, baseball bat swings, canoeing strokes, football kicks, tennis serves, ball throwing, weight lifting, bike exercise, and numerous other athletic motions with preselected amounts of resistance. The machine incorporates a free wheeling flywheel having variable resistance in one direction so that backswings are accomplished with no substantial resistance. The flywheel is positionable and lockable at a height selected by the user, and is further positionable and lockable at any preselected angle relative to a horizontal axis and at any preselected angle relative to an axis orthogonal to the horizontal axis. Attachments that simulate golf clubs, baseball bats and the like are secured to the axle of the flywheel and are swung or otherwise manipulated by the exerciser to increase the strength of muscles specifically used during the selected athletic motion.

A fly swatter device is set forth wherein housing formed with an open upper end telescopingly receives a slide member interiorly thereof. The slide member is latched in a lower first position and extended to a second telescoping position. An array of striker slats is pivotally mounted to an axle orthogonally directed through opposed walls of the slide member utilizing an elastomeric cord to expand the slats to a splayed orientation upon the slide member extending to the second position.

Fly swatter device

The container includes a base containing absorbent particles and a lid shaped and dimensioned to be inverted and placed beneath the base to catch particles pawed from the container by an animal.
