Systems, methods, and software for submitting video evidence. A request is received from a user of a security device to submit an identified video clip as video evidence to an agency, and the identified video clip and corresponding metadata is retrieved from a database of video clips. Additional information about content of the video clip is interactively collected from the owner and a digital signature is received from the owner. A video evidence file is generated to include the content of the identified video clip, information regarding capture of the video clip based upon the metadata, the additional information, and the digital signature. The video evidence file is then communicated to the agency.

Systems and methods for submitting video evidence

This application is directed to an electronic device that operates as both a sound component for a doorbell and a component of a security system. For instance, the electronic device may receive a signal from the doorbell. The electronic device may then output a sound associated with the doorbell. Additionally, the electronic device may receive data from one or more sensors associated with the security system. Based on the data, the electronic device may perform one or more functions. For instance, if the electronic device sets a specific mode of the security system, the electronic device may output a sound representing an alarm of the security system. Additionally, the electronic device may send data to another electronic device, such as a server or a client device, that indicates that the one or more sensors detected an event.

Implementing security system devices as network nodes

A method of determining compatibility of a network hardware device for connecting to a home security network involves receiving, by a processor of a client device, data from a capture input device of the client device. The data includes identification information associated with the network hardware device. The method also involves transmitting, by the client device, to a server computing device the data comprising the identification information associated with the network hardware device. The method further involves receiving, from the server computing device, compatibility information indicating whether the network hardware device is compatible with a hub device of the home security network. Additionally, the method involves displaying, on a display of the client device, the compatibility information.

Determining product compatibility and demand

Remote commissioning for an automation system enables a retailer to sell a new device to a customer pre-configured to work together with devices that are already a part of the user's automation system. Knowledge of how the devices are likely to be used at the automation system's location, a list of existing devices already installed and how they are configured, possible input from the customer, and the end user's current usage patterns are optionally used to configure the devices before they leave the store. Assisted local commissioning for an automation device enables an end user to commission devices themselves by simplifying the installation and commissioning process. The system uses a reference database of devices that includes information on how to commission the devices along with user-manual information and pictures for physical installation, and setup instructions so the system can walk a user through the process step by step.

Commissioning devices for automation systems

Content that is delivered nearly on-demand, in overlapping streams that start in staggered intervals on different channels, is played on-demand for the user using a storage system in conjunction with the receiver. A portion of the content corresponding to the staggering interval of the various streams is pre-cached and employed for playback when the user initiates on-demand playback. Content from the most-recently-started stream at the time of playback initiation is then buffered, and playback switches from the pre-cached content to the buffered content at a preselected alignment point.

Method for pre-caching content to enable true VOD systems from NVOD or stream limited VOD systems

A low-power, software based modulator that is used to transfer text data from an auxiliary audio device to an FM radio receiver includes a processor that receives the text data to be transmitted to the FM receiver, processes the data as an RDS signal or converts the text data to speech and then combines the processed data signal with an FM audio signal that is sent to the FM receiver. In one embodiment, the auxiliary audio device is a CD or CD-MP3 player and the software-based modulator is implemented on the control processor or DSP of the device. The FM encoder that produces the FM encoded audio signal may be a separate analog encoder or may also be implemented in the control processor of the auxiliary audio device.

Integrated short range RDS FM transmitter

The CPU breaks a digital still image file down into multiple sub-picture files. Each sub-picture file is treated as an MPEG video frame and is used to construct an MPEG video stream. An MPEG processor then processes the MPEG video stream. The MPEG processor decodes the video stream and scales each sub-picture down to fit a monitor or television upon which the still image is to be displayed. Each scaled sub-picture is stored in a display buffer but is not displayed until the entire MPEG video stream is decoded.
