The invention relates to a mobile robot having running gear and at least one robot arm mounted on the running gear, a sensor system for sensing obstacles in the surroundings of the robot and a navigation unit for laying down a route along which the running gear can be moved while avoiding the obstacles, and a control unit for the robot arm which is adapted to lay down a permissible position for the robot arm by reference to the obstacles sensed and the route.

The invention relates to a friction brake (), in particular for elevators, comprising at least two pivotally mounted brake levers (), which each have a brake lining () and are arranged opposite each other in the form of a brake caliper. An actuator () is provided for actuating the friction brake (). In order to avoid uneven loading of the opposing brake levers (), the actuator () is designed in such a way that the force (F) exerted by the actuator () acts substantially perpendicularly to a brake application force (F) exerted by the brake levers (). Furthermore, a spreading mechanism () is provided, by means of which the brake application force (F) can be regulated by the force (F) exerted by the actuator.
