A method for operating an on-board water supply and distribution system of an aircraft includes a central water tank, central pump, consumer assemblies each including a supply device to supply water, and a high-pressure conduit system. The high-pressure conduit system connects the downstream side and consumer assemblies and is configured where the central pump can deliver water from the downstream side to the consumer assemblies. The method includes operating the central pump where water in the high-pressure conduit system is pressurized to a predetermined first pressure, operating the consumer assemblies where in each of the consumer assemblies the connection between the buffer tank of the consumer assembly and the high-pressure conduit system is in a closed position, monitoring pressure for a predetermined first period of time, and providing a first failure signal when pressure drops below a predetermined second pressure within the first period of time.

Water supply and distribution system on-board an aircraft and method for operating such system

A method for draining a local water distribution system including a buffer, supply lines connecting one or more consumers to the buffer and consumer valves associated with the one or more consumers. The buffer is configured for locally storing water from an aircraft water supply system to be distributed to the one or more consumers. Water from the buffer can be dispensed through a consumer of the one or more consumers by opening the consumer valve associated with the respective consumer. Water is drained from the supply lines by opening the consumer valves. Water is drained from the buffer through one of the supply lines and the consumer valves or through a drain valve connecting the buffer to a wastewater system of an aircraft. A corresponding local water distribution system and an aircraft are disclosed.

A method for operating an on-board water supply and distribution system of an aircraft for supplying water includes a central water tank, central pump, having an upstream side and a downstream side for conveying and pressurizing water from the upstream side to the downstream side, consumer assemblies including a supply device and a buffer tank including a pressurizing device. A high-pressure conduit system connects the downstream side with the consumer assemblies and is configured where the central pump operating can deliver water from the downstream side to the buffer tank of each of the consumer assemblies. The method includes operating the central pump where water is pressurized to a first pressure, monitoring pressure in the high-pressure conduit system for a first period of time, and providing a first failure signal when pressure in the high-pressure conduit system drops below a second pressure within the first period of time.

The method comprises reading a wireless parameter signal from a transponder at the aircraft, decoding the wireless parameter signal to derive at least one aircraft parameter of a water supply system and/or a waste system of the aircraft, moving a servicing equipment interface to a service panel of the aircraft, connecting the servicing equipment interface to a coupling at the service panel, servicing the aircraft via the servicing equipment interface corresponding to the at least one aircraft parameter, and writing a service parameter into the transponder at the aircraft.

A method for operating an on-board water supply and distribution system of an aircraft for supplying water includes a central water tank, first consumer assemblies with buffer tanks each including a heater to heat up water in the buffer tank to a disinfection temperature, pump having upstream and downstream sides to operate in supply and reverse modes, and high-pressure conduit system. The central water tank connects to the pump's upstream side. The conduit system connects the downstream side with a first consumer assembly. The method includes operating the pump in supply mode where water from the central tank goes to a first consumer assembly to fill a buffer tank, operating a buffer tank heater so water heats to a predetermined disinfection temperature, and operating the pump in reverse mode so heated water passes through a part of the conduit system and the upstream side of the pump.

Water supply and distribution system on-board an aircraft and method for self-sustaining hygienic operation of such system

A water supply system for an aircraft having consumers with buffer stores connected to a water tank by lines and a pressure source. Each consumer has a filling valve between the buffer store and the pressure source. The buffer store can be filled by opening the filling valve. In each consumer, water can be removed from the buffer store by opening a consumer valve. Each consumer transmits at least one state parameter describing a state of the buffer store of the respective consumer to a control system. The control system controls opening and closing of the filling valves of the consumers taking into account the transmitted state parameters such that removal of water from the water tank by the pressure source does not exceed a threshold value at any point in time. An aircraft having a water supply system and method for controlling a water supply system are disclosed.

Water supply system for an aircraft

A drain mast for an aircraft for discharge of water from the aircraft interior with a line which extends in a line direction from a connector end to a discharge end. The connector end can connect to another line in the interior of the aircraft, through which further line water flows into the drain mast. The discharge end can discharge water into a surrounding area of the aircraft. The line includes a plastic, into which a conductive material is embedded, by which the line can be heated electrically, by a heating current being conducted through the conductive material. A proportion of the embedded conductive material in the line increases in the line direction per length unit from the connector end of the line towards the discharge end such that the heating power which is introduced into the line per length unit increases from the connector end towards the discharge end.

Drain mast

A system for heating up water for a consumer unit in an aircraft, having a water reservoir and a control unit. The water reservoir has a heating device to heat water held in the water reservoir to a consumer temperature. The control unit controls the heating device so water in the water reservoir is automatically heated to or above a disinfection temperature at which germ formation in the water reservoir is eliminated or suppressed, and a temperature of the water in the water reservoir is maintained at or above the disinfection temperature for a disinfection period, the heating to the disinfection temperature being effected only during flight phases or portions of flight phases of the aircraft during which use of the consumer unit by a user is not to be expected. A corresponding method and an aircraft having such a system are disclosed.

A method for disinfecting a water system of an aircraft includes letting-in of hot water at an inlet of the water system by a first ground service unit; flushing the hot water from the inlet, through water pipes of the water system, to an outlet of the water system; and letting-out of the hot water at the outlet, by the first ground service unit or a second ground service unit; the hot water being flushed into the inlet and out of the outlet over a predefined disinfection period; and the hot water being provided at the inlet via a continuous-flow heater of the first ground service unit.

A method for disinfecting a water system of an aircraft includes the introduction of damp hot air at an inlet of the water system by a ground service unit; flushing of the damp hot air from the inlet through water pipes of the water system to an outlet of the water system; and extraction of the damp hot air at the outlet; wherein the damp hot air is flushed into the inlet and out of the outlet over a predefined disinfection period, and wherein the damp hot air has a temperature between 60&#xb0; C. and 80&#xb0; C.

An aircraft with a drinking water supply and distribution system including a water storage tank, a consumer equipment, a pressurizer, a pressure reducer and a conduit system connecting the drinking water storage tank to the consumer equipment via the pressurizer and supplying water from the at least one water storage tank to the at least one consumer equipment. The pressurizer pressurizes water in the conduit system with a peak pressure exceeding a supply water pressure threshold. The conduit system includes flexible conduits having a maximum internal diameter of less than 8 mm. The pressure reducer is provided for reducing the pressure of water supplied to the consumer equipment below a consumer water pressure threshold. The supply water pressure threshold exceeds the consumer water pressure threshold.

A draining device for draining a fluid line is provided. The draining device comprises a mechanically non-locking coupling and a holding device. The mechanically non-locking coupling is configured to establish a fluid conductive connection with the fluid line. The holding device is configured to stationary fix the mechanically non-locking coupling relatively to the fluid line. The draining device allows establishing a fluid conductive connection between the fluid line and the mechanically non-locking coupling without requiring a mechanical fixation directly at the mechanically non-locking coupling.

A water supply system includes a first pipe, a water reservoir, and a Venturi pipe having a first Venturi nozzle terminal, a second Venturi nozzle terminal and a Venturi nozzle branch arranged between the first and second Venturi nozzle terminal. A pressure supply system for a fresh water system is provided. The pressure supply system includes a water reservoir having a bleed air inlet and a water outlet. The pressure supply system also includes a water pump so as to load water, which is loaded with bleed air pressure, with a further pressure downstream until a predetermined nominal operating pressure range is achieved. As a result, the pressure supply system provides an increased redundancy by pressure generator assemblies which are based on different pressure generation principles.
