To control movement of a transport unit of a linear motor, a quality functional J(SG) with quality terms JT(SG) is used as a function of manipulated variables (SG) of active drive coils. The quality functional J(SG) controlling movement of the transport unit along the stator is optimized with regard to the manipulated variable (SG) to determine optimal manipulated variables (SG) for the relevant time step of the control of movement, active drive coils are energized according to the determined optimal manipulated variables (SG), and at least two movement phases are provided during the movement of the transport unit along the stator. In the at least two novement phases, different quality functionals J(SG) are used for determining the optimal manipulated variables (SG), the different quality functionals J(SG) differing by the number k of the quality terms JT(SG) used and/or by the quality terms JT(SG) and/or by the weighting factors k.

Method for operating a linear motor

In order to specify a transport apparatus in the form of a long stator linear motor, by which the negative effects of a non-uniform magnetic flux in the joint region between two adjacent transport segments can be at least alleviated, according to embodiments, the spacing between the coil center of an end coil of a transport segment and the relevant end of the transport segment is smaller than half the tooth pitch of the two adjacent end coils of the transport segments, the tooth pitch of the two adjacent end coils corresponding to the tooth pitch of the drive coils of at least one of the transport segments.

Transport apparatus in the form of a long stator linear motor

A holder () for use in a conveyor line () formed from a stator of a long stator linear motor with at least a first retaining element () and a second retaining element (), wherein the first retaining element () and the second retaining element () are arranged side by side and spaced apart from each other in a first direction () and the first retaining element () in this first direction () comprises a first rigidity (S) and the second retaining element () in this first direction () a second rigidity (S), which is lower than the first rigidity (S).
