A signal analyzer for analyzing an input signal comprises at least one input for receiving the input signal, at least one acquisition unit for acquiring data assigned to the input signal, an acquisition memory for storing the acquired data, the acquisition memory being adapted to store data in at least one ring buffer, and an acquisition memory controller to control at least one of writing the acquired data in the acquisition memory and reading the acquired data from the acquisition memory. The acquisition memory controller comprises a data read module for reading data of the at least one ring buffer. The acquisition memory controller comprises a copy write module which taps data read by the data read module. The acquisition memory comprises an additional memory section. The copy write module is configured to write the data tapped into the additional memory section. Further, a method of processing data from an input signal is described.

A signal analysis method is described. The signal analysis method comprises: receiving an N-ary input signal, the input signal comprising a symbol sequence; determining at least two threshold transition times of the input signal within a predetermined time period, wherein the input signal respectively crosses an amplitude threshold of several predetermined amplitude thresholds at each of the threshold transition times; determining time intervals between the threshold transition times; evaluating the time intervals based on a set of predefined conditions; and assigning the threshold transition times to at least one symbol transition based on the evaluation. A signal analysis method for recovering a clock signal from an input signal is described. The input signal comprises a symbol sequence, wherein each symbol has one of N different amplitude values, and wherein N is an integer bigger than 1. The signal analysis method comprises the following steps: The input signal is received. Transition times of the input signal are determined, wherein the input signal respectively crosses one of several predetermined amplitude thresholds at the transition times. The transition times are transformed into one reference symbol period, thereby obtaining transformed transition times. The clock signal is determined based on the transformed transition times. Further, a signal analysis module for recovering a clock signal from an input signal is described.

A signal analysis method is described. The signal analysis method includes the following steps. A first difference quantity is determined based on a first set of samples by a first polyphase filter, wherein the first set of samples includes at least two input samples. A second difference quantity is determined based on a second set of samples by a second polyphase filter, wherein the second set of samples includes at least two input samples, wherein the input samples associated with the second set of samples are time-shifted with respect to the input samples associated with the first set of samples. The first difference quantity and the second difference quantity are compared based on a predefined criterion. At least one timing parameter of the symbol sequence is determined based on the comparison of the first difference quantity and the second difference quantity. Signal analysis method and signal processing module

A method for reducing a number of bits used for a frequency value of a measuring signal stored in each memory cell of a display memory in a measuring device determines the frequency value in each memory cell by assigning the frequency of sampled values in several measuring portions of a measured signal within an update cycle of the display to a corresponding memory cell. It then displays each pixel of the display with a brightness or a color corresponding to the frequency value in the corresponding memory cell after each update cycle. The determined frequency value is a sum of a first frequency value, which is determined in a number of first measuring portions of the measured signal within the update cycle, and at least one compressed second frequency value, which is determined by compression of a corresponding compressed second frequency value with a compression factor. Each uncompressed second frequency value can be determined in a corresponding part of a number of second measuring portions of the measured signal within the update cycle.

Measuring device with a display memory having memory cells with a reduced number of bits and a corresponding method

A device and corresponding operational method for storing frequency values to a memory of the device, comprising an internal memory and an external memory, are provided. A frequency value in a memory cell of the internal memory is actualized by an increment or a decrement. After a specific number of increments and decrements in the memory cells of the internal memory, a maximum frequency value of the frequency values stored in the memory cells of the internal memory is determined, and the maximum frequency value is transferred to a corresponding memory cell of the external memory. The memory cell of the internal memory that contains the transferred maximum frequency value is reset. After a period, content of each memory cell of the internal and external memory is read, and each memory cell of the internal and external memory is reset.

Method and apparatus for efficient storage of frequency values for a display device

A measuring device for the measurement of differential signals including a real-time portion, which contains two probes, a signal adder and a triggering device. The probes each record a partial signal of a differential signal. The signal adder adds the partial signals to form a differential signal. The triggering device implements a triggering on the basis of the differential signal.

Measurement points for display on a two-dimensional pixel-based display device are formed by scanned and digitized measurement values. To this end, the resolution of each measurement point according to time and/or value is higher than the resolution of the two-dimensional pixel-based display device. A device for parallel-serial conversion of several evaluation parameters determined respectively by a detector from detected signal values. The device includes a primary buffer memory for the synchronized buffering of each determined evaluation parameter, a synchronization unit for the generation of a synchronization signal for the synchronized buffering and a unit for the serial readout of the evaluation parameters stored in a synchronized manner in the primary buffer memory. A synchronization signal generated by the synchronization unit is derived from a release signal which provides the highest data rate of all the release signals associated respectively with the determined evaluation parameters.
