An injection moldable composition, comprising: A) a silicone resin (I) [RSiO][RRSiO][SiO], wherein R, R, and Rare hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbyloxy, or hydroxyl, at least one of Ror Ris alkenyl, subscripts a, b, and c are each &#x3e;0 and a+b+c=1, B) 0 to 90% (w/w), based on the weight of A) and B), of a silicone resin (II) [RSiO][SiO]wherein Ris hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbyloxy, or hydroxyl, at least one of Ris alkenyl, subscripts d and e are each &#x3e;0, and d+e=1, C) a siloxane polymer having formula (III), [RSiO]RRSiO]. wherein Rare hydrocarbyl or hydroxyl, at least one of Ris alkenyl, subscripts f and g are each &#x3e;0, and f+g=1, D) a silicone crosslinker having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule, and E) a hydrosilylation catalyst, wherein the ratio of silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms to carbon-carbon double bonds is from 1.2 to 2.2.

Injection moldable silicone composition

A compound lens and a related method of manufacture are provided. The compound lens includes a first lens element and a second lens element such that a light emitting surface of the first lens element is integrally joined to a light receiving surface of the second lens element, the first and second lens element being in optical alignment with each other. The first and second lens element are molded from optical grade silicone and can achieve complex illumination objectives not possible with single lens constructions. The method of manufacture includes injecting a silicone resin molding compound into a mold cavity having the desired shape of the compound lens. The method of manufacture can include over-molding a lens holding member onto the compound lens and adding electro-optically active particles to a surface of the compound lens or to the silicone resin forming the compound lens.

A copolymer composition is provided that is formed as the reaction product of (I) a cured polyorganosiloxane intermediate having repeating Si&#x2014;O&#x2014;Si units and at least one Si&#x2014;OH functional group and (II) a polyfluoropolyether silane. The cured polyorganosiloxane intermediate has a surface having a water contact angle ranging from 40&#xb0; to 90&#xb0; as measured by ASTM 5946-04. In certain embodiments, the copolymer composition provides improved dust resistance as compared with cured polyorganosiloxanes from which the copolymer composition is formed.

An opto-physical material comprises a curable matrix composition and an effective amount of an ultraviolet light additive dispersed therein. The opto-physical material has a refractive index ranging from 1 to 1.8 at 589 nm wavelength and a light transmission value of 30% or less at any wavelength in the ultraviolet light spectrum. In addition, a test value of an optical physical property for the opto-physical material does not differ by more than 5% from a predetermined value of the optical physical property when the predetermined value is measured under the same measurement conditions for an opto-physical material comprising a comparative curable matrix composition lacking the ultraviolet light additive, wherein the optical physical property is selected from color shift in the visible light spectrum, light diffusivity at any wavelength in the light spectrum, light transmission in the visible light spectrum, and combinations thereof.

Light emitting assembly with spectrum-shifting reflectance and method

A reflector for reflecting light emitted by an LED light source and a method of forming the same are provided. The reflector has a unitary silicone body having a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The unitary silicone body has an inner surface extending between the first and second ends. The inner surface defines a first aperture at the first end for receiving the LED light source. The inner surface defines a second aperture at the second end for permitting light emitted from the LED light source to escape the unitary silicone body. The inner surface has a maximum inner diameter between the first and second ends. The inner surface has an inner diameter at the second end that is less than the maximum inner diameter.

A composition comprises (A) a silicone resin; (B) an organosilicon compound; (C) a hydrosilylation catalyst; and (D) a flame retardant component comprising aluminum hydroxide. The composition further comprises (E) a reflective component different from component (D) and comprising titanium dioxide. The composition forms articles having excellent physical properties, including reflectance, flame retardant properties, and self-extinguishing properties. Silicone pressure sensitive compositions that combine high ultimate strength in a cured network with a lower modulus and have improved adhesive strength at elevated temperatures are disclosed. The pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are comprised of (A) a soluble, capped, organopolysiloxane resin containing less than 1.2 weight percent silicon-bonded hydroxyl groups based on the total weight of (A); (B) a diorganopolysiloxane polymer, each terminal group thereof containing at least two silicon-bonded hydrolyzable radicals said polymer having a viscosity at 25.degree. C. of 20 to 100,000 mm.sup.2 /s; and (C) a hydrolyzable silane.

Silicone pressure sensitive adhesive composition

The present invention relates to a silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive composition which cure upon exposure to ambient moisture. The moisture-curable silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive composition of the instant invention comprise: (A) an organopolysiloxane resin containing curing radicals of the formula --SiY.sub.2 ZNY'ZSiR.sup.1.sub.x Y'.sub.3-x wherein R.sup.1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical, each Z is a divalent linking group, each Y is independently selected from the group consisting of a monovalent organic radical, an enoloxy radical, an alkoxy radical, and an oximo radical; Y' is selected from the group consisting of a monovalent organic radical, a hydrogen atom, and --ZSiR.sup.1.sub.x Y'.sub.3-x ; Y' is selected from the group consisting of an enoloxy radical, an alkoxy radical, and an oximo radical; and the subscript x has a value of 0 or 1; (B) a diorganopolysiloxane polymer, each terminal group thereof containing at least one silicon-bonded hydrolyzable functional radicals selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl radicals, alkoxy radicals having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, ketoxime radicals, enoloxy radicals, aminoxy radicals, acetamido radicals, N-methylacetamido radicals and acetoxy radicals; said polymer having a viscosity at 25.degree. C. of 20 to &lt;100,000 mm.sup.2 /s and the weight ratio of said resin to said polymer being in the range 5:95 to 90:10; (C) optionally, sufficient catalyst to accelerate the cure of said composition; (D) optionally a silane of the formula R.sup.2.sub.4-y SiX.sub.y or oligomeric reaction product thereof, in which R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon radicals and substituted hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, X is a hydrolyzable group and y is 2 to 4; and (E) optionally, a filler.

A stream of a molten moisture curable organosiloxane composition is entrained in a current of a heated gas containing a concentration of water vapor below the saturation level of the gas at 25.degree. C. The gas current directs the organosiloxane composition toward the surface to be coated and provides an environment adjacent to the surface of the coated substrate that causes at least the surface layer of the composition to cure at a rate that is substantially constant and independent of the temperature and humidity in the macroscopic environment of the substrate.

Method and apparatus for applying coatings of molten moisture curable

A moisture-curable silicone hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive composition is disclosed, said composition comprising: (A) a solid alkoxy functional organopolysiloxane resin containing curing radicals of the formula --ZSiR.sup.1.sub.x (OR.sup.2).sub.3-x ; wherein R.sup.1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical, R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of a alkyl radical and alkoxyalkyl radical, Z is a divalent linking radical, and the subscript x has a value of 0 or 1; (B) a diorganopolysiloxane polymer, each terminal group thereof containing at least one silicon-bonded hydrolyzable functional radical selected from the group consisting of alkoxy radicals having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, ketoxime radicals, aminoxy radicals, acetamido radicals, N-methylacetamido radicals and acetoxy radicals; said polymer having a viscosity at 25.degree. C. of 20 to &lt;100,000 mm.sup.2 /s, and the weight ratio of said resin to said polymer being in the range 40:60 to 80:20; and (C) sufficient catalyst to accelerate the cure of said composition; said composition being an essentially solvent-free, non-slump solid at room temperature which cures to an essentially non-tacky elastomer upon exposure to moisture.
