A current carrying system for use in transporting electrical current between a plurality of electrical devices is provided. The current carrying system includes a busbar having a first axial end, a second axial end, an electrically conductive shaft extending from the first axial end to the second axial end, and at least one cooling feature defined in at least a portion of the electrically conductive shaft. The current carrying system also includes a casing that defines a busbar channel configured to receive the busbar such that the casing at least partially circumscribes the busbar. The current carrying system also includes an air vent defined by the at least one cooling feature and the casing, wherein the air vent is in flow communication with ambient air, and the cooling feature is configured to facilitate a flow of air from the ambient air through the air vent.

Current carrying systems and methods of assembling the same

A power transmission assembly includes a first main bus including a first large bus bar and a first small bus bar. The first large bus bar is defined by a cross-sectional area larger than the first small bus bar. The first main bus defines a first axis passing through the first large bus bar and the second small bus bar. The power transmission assembly includes a second main bus including a second large bus bar and a second small bus bar. The second main bus defines a second axis passing through the second large bus bar and the second small bus bar, the second axis being substantially parallel to the first axis. The first main bus is located along a third axis substantially perpendicular to the first axis and passing through each of the first main bus and the second main bus.

Power transmission assembly

An interlock mechanism for preventing or enabling the operation of a handle operator or a contactor in certain circumstances comprises a system of mechanical linkages which interact to determine whether a lock-out mode or an enabling mode exists with respect to the electric motor being controlled. In the handle assembly, the lock-out bar has a circular aperture that receives a push rod in the enable mode and blocks the push rod in the lock-out mode. The push rod is connected to a blocking bracket which must be depressed by a human operator prior to cycling the handle operator. If the blocking bracket cannot be fully depressed by the human operator because the push rod is blocked by the lock-out bar, then the human operator can not cycle the handle operator between its OFF and ON positions, thus a first half of the interlock is achieved. Conversely, the interlock is also designed to prevent the contactor from supplying power to the electric motor if the handle operator is being cycled. If the switch has been closed (handle operator is in the ON position) and power has been supplied to the contactor but not yet to the electric motor, and the blocking bracket has been activated successfully such that the push rod has engaged the lock-out bar, then the contactor pawl assembly is unable to move and thus the contactor cannot be command to supply power to the electric motor. Thus a two way mechanical interlock is achieved.
