Systems and methods are provided for storage platform-independent storage provisioning. The systems and methods may include receiving a storage provisioning request from a user interface, processing the storage provisioning request to determine one or more of a plurality of storage resources utilized to complete the storage provisioning request, generating an instruction to provision a data storage space among the one or more of the plurality of storage resources, and provisioning the data storage space based on the instruction. Each of the plurality of storage resources may include an interface configuration, and at least two interface configurations are different from one another. Each of the plurality of storage resources may be accessible and operational in accordance with the interface configuration thereof. The processing of a storage provisioning request may include determining at least one of a nature of the storage provisioning request, or an application associated with the storage provisioning request.

A method for dynamic resource provisioning for job placement includes receiving a request to perform a job on an unspecified computer device. One or more job criteria for performing the job are determined. Each job criteria defines a required operational characteristic needed for a computer device to perform the job. A list of available computer devices is provided. The list includes a plurality of computer devices currently provisioned to perform computer operations. A list of suitable computer devices for performing the job is determined from the list of available computer devices by comparing operational characteristics for each available computer device with the job criteria. The list of suitable computer devices includes one or more computer devices having operational characteristics that satisfy the job criteria. From the list of suitable computer devices, a least active computer device is determined, and the job is forwarded to the least active computer device.

The present disclosure is directed to a method and system for determining overall utilization. In accordance with a particular embodiment of the present disclosure, utilization metrics are received from at least one entity. Each utilization metric indicates resource availability for the entity. The utilization metrics are converted to mapped values by comparing the utilization metrics to configured thresholds. The mapped values are converted to percentage values. An overall utilization is calculated for the entity by identifying an average value of the percentage values. A graphical representation of the overall utilization is generated.
