Populating a well log. At least some of the illustrative embodiments are methods including: performing a well logging operation at a physical location of a wellbore, the performing by: positioning a logging system proximate to the physical location of the wellbore; determining, by a computer system associated with the logging system, a physical location of the logging system; reading, by the computer system, from a third party source, information related to the physical location of the logging system; populating, by the computer system, a header section of a well log report, the populating based on information from the third party source; and performing the well logging operation.

System and method of populating a well log

A system and method for managing a herd of animals possibly requiring medical treatment, such as cows in a feedlot. The animals are herded individually into a chute, where identification data is collected from a tag, and core temperature data is collected using a special non-contacting core temperature sensor. The animal is tagged with a color coded tag representing a range of temperatures into which that animal's temperature falls. The animal is then delivered to a pen corresponding to that range of temperatures, where appropriate medicinal treatment is automatically dosed and applied to the animal.

Core-temperature-based herd management system and methods

Generally, the present disclosure is directed to systems that may be used to facilitate the retrieval and/or replacement of production and/or processing equipment that may be used for subsea oil and gas operations. In one illustrative embodiment, a method is disclosed that includes, among other things, removing at least a portion of trapped production fluid () from subsea equipment () while the subsea equipment () is connected to a subsea equipment installation () in a subsea environment (), and storing at least the removed portion of the trapped production fluid () in a subsea containment structure () that is positioned in the subsea environment (). Core-temperature based herd management system and method

A method and apparatus for measuring the core temperature of an animal or human. Thermal black body emissions from the eyeball are detected, at one or more wavelengths selected on the basis of various factors, including the ability of that wavelength to reach the interior of the eyeball. An illumination marker shines a spot of light on the eyeball, such that the spot corresponds to the area from which emissions are being detected.

Means and apparatus for rapid, accurate, non-contacting measurement of the core temperature of animals and humans

A quintuplex mud pump has a crankshaft supported in the pump by external main bearings. The crankshaft has five eccentric sheaves, two internal main bearing sheaves, and two bull gears. Each of the main bearing sheaves supports the crankshaft by a main bearing. One main bearing sheave is disposed between second and third eccentric sheaves, while the other main bearing sheave is disposed between third and fourth eccentric sheaves. One bull gear is disposed between the first and second eccentric sheaves, while the second bull gear is disposed between fourth and fifth eccentric sheaves. A pinion shaft has pinion gears interfacing with the crankshaft's bull gears. Connecting rods on the eccentric sheaves use roller bearings and transfer rotational movement of the crankshaft to pistons of the pump's fluid assembly.

The present invention is directed to an electric-hydraulic power unit. In one illustrative embodiment, the power unit comprises a body having a movable pressure barrier positioned therein, the movable pressure barrier defining first and second chambers therein, a configurable flow path in fluid communication with the first and second chambers, and at least one valve for configuring the flow path in a first state wherein fluid may flow within the flow path only in a direction from the first chamber toward the second chamber, and a second state wherein fluid within the flow path may flow in both directions between the first and second chambers.

Electric-hydraulic power unit

The present invention is directed to a system for controlling a hydraulic actuator, and various methods of using same. In one illustrative embodiment, the system comprises a first hydraulic cylinder, an isolated supply of fluid provided to the first hydraulic cylinder, the isolated supply of fluid positioned in an environment that is at a pressure other than atmospheric pressure, an actuator device coupled to the first hydraulic cylinder, the actuator device adapted to drive the first hydraulic cylinder to create the sufficient pressure in the fluid, and at least one hydraulic line operatively intermediate the first hydraulic cylinder and the hydraulic actuator, the hydraulic line supplying the sufficient pressure in the fluid to the hydraulic actuator in the remote locale.

System for controlling a hydraulic actuator, and methods of using same

An apparatus includes a housing defining a chamber therein and defining an inlet port and an outlet port and a movable pressure barrier, disposed in the chamber, separating the chamber into first and second portions, the inlet port and the outlet port being in fluid communication with the first portion of the chamber. The apparatus further includes a drive spring disposed in the second portion of the chamber for urging the movable pressure barrier in a pumping direction when in a compressed state, electric means for compressing the drive spring, and a return spring disposed in the first portion of the chamber for urging the movable pressure barrier in a recharging direction when the drive spring is in an uncompressed state.

Electric hydraulic power unit and method of using same

A technique for maintaining pressure integrity within a submersible system. The system utilizes a pressure housing with an internal component, such as a valve. The internal component is actuated by an external actuator via an actuator stem. A seal region is positioned to interact with the stem, such that the interior of the pressure housing is sealed and pressure integrity is maintained upon retraction of the stem from engagement with the internal component.

Technique for maintaining pressure integrity in a submersible system

A breakaway joint for releasably connecting a first component to a second component, comprises a first member to which the first component is attached; a second member to which the second component is attached; a plurality of columnar members each having first and second ends, the first ends being coupled to the first member; and a mechanism engaged by both the second member and the second ends of the columnar members for latching the first member to the second member and for converting a tensile load acting between the first and second members into a compressive load acting on the columnar members; wherein when the tensile load reaches a predetermined level, the columnar members will buckle and the latching means will release the first member from the second member.

Breakaway joint for subsea components

A flowline jumper handling apparatus for supporting a flowline jumper in a generally horizontal position as it is offloaded from a surface structure with a first lifting apparatus and then supporting the flowline jumper in a generally vertical position as it is lowered to a subsea structure with a second lifting apparatus. The flowline jumper handling apparatus comprises an elongated spreader bar, at least one first cable connecting the spreader bar to the flowline jumper, at least one second cable connecting the spreader bar to a through member, at least one third cable connecting the through member to the second lifting apparatus, at least one fourth cable passing through the through member and connecting the flowline jumper to the first lifting apparatus, and a restricting member for preventing a portion of the fourth cable from passing through the through member. In this manner, as the fourth cable is lifted by the first lifting apparatus, the restricting member will engage the through member and support the flowline jumper in a generally horizontal position. Furthermore, as the fourth cable is lowered, the flowline jumper will rotate from the generally horizontal position to the generally vertical position.
