Apparatus and associated methods relate to a pair of magnetic mating buckles including a first buckle () and second buckle (), the first buckle extending beyond the second buckle's outer perimeter forming an extended lip. In an illustrative example, the lip may be manually manipulated to separate the first buckle from the second buckle when the pair of magnetic mating buckles are in a substantially planar magnetic engagement. In some examples, one or more magnets may be fixedly coupled to the first buckle, and/or the second buckle. In some examples, the buckles may be coupled to various webbings. In an engagement example, the first buckle may be inserted through a coupling aperture () in the second buckle. The coupling aperture may include one or more corner notches, for example. Various pairs of magnetic mating buckles with overhanging lips may advantageously provide leverage to manually separate the buckles without tools.

Embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for quickly detecting a fall and alerting appropriate parties of the fall. A fall protection device may comprise a fall detection module operable to sense when a fall occurs and generate wireless beacon, where the beacon may be received (or picked up) by any number of wireless devices, including wireless gateways, monitoring stations, and mobile devices.

A fall arrest lanyard () is provided for arresting the fall of a user from an elevated worksite and includes a connector () having a rigid frame () and a load bearing pin () extending along a longitudinal axis (). The pin () has a central span () extending between first and second end portions () and is mounted in the frame () to translate along the longitudinal axis () between an open position wherein at least one of the end portions () is spaced from the frame () to allow a length of webbing () from a fall protection harness () to be loaded into the connector (), and a closed position wherein the first and second end portions () of the pin () are supported by the frame () with the central span () of the pin () being free from engagement to trap the length of webbing () between the pin () and the frame () for load bearing engagement with the central span ().

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a fall-protection safety harness having padding structures located at harness pressure points, including dorsal and shoulder regions, the lumbar region, and leg regions. The padding structures may be constructed to provide air-flow parallel to a wearer's skin. Air may flow through wearer-webbing channels created by displacing a webbing via comfort pads. For example, the padding structures may be made by sandwiching foam pads between mesh fabric materials. The foam pads may be captured by the two mesh fabrics using circumferential stitching, for example. Circumferential stitching may permit the foam to retain its uncompressed form which may facilitate webbing displacement. Separate and symmetric pads may be located on both sides of a wearer's spine, both at the lumbar region and at the dorsal region of the back, permitting airflow between pads and along the wearer's spine.

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a dorsal wear-pad having an external, low-friction, high-wear-resistance surface, the dorsal wear-pad configured to be releasably coupled to a D-ring connection region of a fall-protection safety harness. In various embodiments, the dorsal wear-pad may project out and away from a wearer so as to prevent the D-ring from contacting a wall surface. For example, the dorsal wear-pad may have a D-ring aperture through which the D-ring may project. In some embodiments, the dorsal wear-pad may have a back shield to prevent a snap-hook connected to the D-ring from contacting a wearer's back. An exemplary embodiment may have two prominences, one on either side of the D-ring. Some exemplary dorsal wear-pads may advantageously protect both a wearer and the wearer's harness during sliding or leaning engagements with vertical surfaces.

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a fall-protection safety harness having breathable padding structures located at harness pressure points, including dorsal and shoulder regions, the lumbar region, and leg regions. The padding structures may be constructed to provide air-flow both through and around comfort pads. To provide air-flow through the comfort pads, the padding structures may be made of a sandwich of breathable materials. For example, the padding structures may be made by sandwiching reticulated foam pads between mesh fabric materials. The foam pads may be captured by the two mesh fabrics by a circumferential stitching. Circumferential stitching may permit the reticulated foam to retain its uncompressed form which may facilitate airflow therethrough. Separate and symmetric pads may be located on both sides of a wearer's spine, both at the lumbar region and at the dorsal region of the back, permitting airflow between pads and along the wearer's spine.
