A compact C-shaped scanner employs at least two sensors and has a mechanism to standardize or calibrate the sensors. The upper and lower elongated beams of the C-frame include a mid-beam sensor and an outer beam sensor. The scanner can monitor the entire width of a continuous sheet by advancing the scanner back and forth along a scanning distance that is only about half that of the sheet width thereby minimizing the required offsheet distance by an amount approaching half the width of the sheet being monitored. Standardization tiles consisting of references materials that are positioned laterally from the edges of the moving sheet allow for calibration of the sensors which operate either in the transmissive or reflective mode. Selected sheet properties or characteristics of the sheet material can be measured. The two sensors can operate in the transmissive or four sensors can operate in the reflective mode.

The present invention is directed to anti-podocalyxin antibodies, compositions comprising the same, and methods of using such antibodies and compositions for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Anti-podocalyxin antibodies and methods of using the same

An accurate and stable displacement sensor that reads through coated metal substrates achieves better than one micron accuracy includes: an electromagnetic coil positioned in a first enclosure; (ii) means for generating a magnetic field from the electromagnetic coil; (iii) a second enclosure which is spaced apart from the first enclosure, wherein the second enclosure includes dual magnetic sensors, such as fluxgate sensors, that are configured to measure the magnetic field; and (iv) means for calculating the separation between the operative surfaces of the enclosures from magnetic field measurements. A permanent magnet can be used instead of the electromagnetic coil and associated driving energy source. A precise displacement measurement is given by a mathematical function (such as the ratio or difference) of the two magnetic sensors demodulated signals. The displacement sensor can be mounted on a maneuverable C-frame to monitor the caliper of anodes and cathodes produced for lithium ion batteries.

High accuracy and high stability magnetic displacement sensor in the presence of electromagnetic interferences

A measurement apparatus includes an x-ray sensor including an x-ray source having a high voltage power supply for emitting an x-ray spectrum and an x-ray detector for providing a measured x-ray signal value responsive to the x-rays received after transmission through a coated substrate including a sheet material having a coating material thereon. A second sensor is a beta gauge or infrared sensor for providing a second sensor signal that includes data for determining a total weight per unit area of the coated substrate or of the sheet material A computing device receives the measured x-ray signal value and the second sensor signal configured to implement an x-ray based calculation that utilizes absorption coefficients for the coating material and sheet material, the measured x-ray signal value, the x-ray spectrum, and the weight measure as a calculation constraint, for computing at least the weight per unit area of the coating material.

X-ray-based determining of weights for coated substrates

The present invention is directed to compositions of matter useful for the treatment of cancer in mammals and to methods of using those compositions of matter for the same. Antibodies specific for podocalyxin designated Ab1 and 3G2 are disclosed, as is the use of said antibodies for the inhibition of growth of a tumor that expresses podocalyxin, and the use of said anti bodies for targeting tumour endothelial cells that express podocalyxin.

An air stabilization system employing two parallel, opposite-facing Coanda nozzles, with each nozzle exhausting gas at opposite directions, subjects a moving flexible web to opposing forces effective to create local tension within the web. Each nozzle includes an elongated slot that is perpendicular to the path of the moving web. The nozzles serve as separate points along the machine direction for controlling the height of the web. The operative surface with the nozzles can exhibit a flush surface. The nozzles can be formed on elevated structures on the operative surface. The operative surface can be covered with a transparent substrate to minimize shape distortions on the moving web and to prevent debris from collecting around the sensor. By modulating the velocities of gases exiting the nozzles, the shape of the web can be manipulated to present a planar contour. The air stabilization system can be incorporated into a caliper scanner.
