A diagnosis device, and more particularly, a compartment syndrome diagnostic device is described herein. The diagnostic device may include a display that renders information associated with stimulation of a motor unit suspected of suffering from compartment syndrome. The diagnostic device may generate a stimulation signal for stimulating the motor unit through an electrode. The device may determine whether the motor unit is at risk for compartment syndrome based on the response of the motor unit to the stimulation. The diagnostic device may also measure pressure of a compartment. The device may determine whether the motor unit is at risk for compartment syndrome based on the measured pressure and the response of the motor unit to the stimulation.

Percutaneous stimulation device and method for detecting compartment syndrome

A method of stabilizing a patient's ulnohumeral joint including the steps of: obtaining a stabilizing assembly having a mounting portion and a buttressing portion; and implanting the stabilizing assembly into an operative position wherein the mounting portion of the stabilizing assembly is anchored at a proximal region of the patient's ulna and the buttressing portion is situated to abut the patient's humerus so as to limit subluxation at the ulnohumeral joint while allowing movement between the patient's ulna and humerus at the patient's ulnohumeral joint.

Method of stabilizing a patients ulnohumeral joint

A stabilization device is provided including an axle and a portion that can be affixed to a bone. The device is used to stabilize a joint while allowing motion of the joint along its natural trajectory and it is placed internally in order to prevent pin tract problems. Additionally, methods for using the device are provided that include, in various sequences, inserting the axle into a bone of a joint, adjusting the geometry of the device and attaching the fixable portion to another bone of the joint. The device can be provided as part of a system including an axis trajectory guide useful for locating the axis of rotation of the joint prior to insertion, adjustment and attachment of the device.

Internal joint stabilizer device, system and method of use

A protective device for mitigating the risks and hazards of fractures and injuries to the wrist and forearm that is intended to be utilized by individuals who participate in skating activities or other sports played on hard surfaces. The device has semi-rigid splint members which are fastened above and below the wearer's forearm and extend from the palm area of the hand longitudinally along the forearm toward the elbow. The palm area of the device includes an arched portion of the splint member which defines a space for containing a shock absorber which cushions the impact of a fall, thereby alleviating the extent of injury to the wrist and forearm areas. The palm area also includes a spring for transmitting the force of a fall along the extremity of the forearm splint members and the palmar portion of the protective device. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, splint members which lie along the palmar of the forearm slide relative to each other for additional impact and injury mitigation.

Hand, wrist, and forearm protective device

A fixation plate for fixing the position of a fractured bone is provided. The fixation plate includes an elongated rigid plate having a plurality of first apertures spaced along the length of the plate. The first apertures are arranged and sized to receive threaded fasteners for fastening the plate to the bone on both sides of the fracture. The fixation plate also includes a plurality of second apertures spaced along the length of the plate. The second apertures, which are smaller than the first apertures, are arranged and sized to receive tacks to temporarily attach the plate to the bone on both sides of the fracture.
