Systems and methods for tracking unintentional high amplitude muscle movements of a user and stabilizing a handheld tool are described. The method may include detecting motion of a housing of the handheld tool when manipulated by a user while the user is performing a task with a user-assistive device attached to an attachment arm of the handheld tool, and storing the detected motion in a memory of the handheld tool as motion data. Furthermore, the method may include controlling a first motion generating mechanism and a second motion generating mechanism by generating a first motion signal and a second motion signal that respectively drive the first motion generating mechanism in a first degree of freedom and the second motion generating mechanism in a second degree of freedom to stabilize motion of the user-assistive device attached to the attachment arm of the handheld tool.

High amplitude tremor stabilization by a handheld tool

Systems and methods for determining the identity of a liquid within a liquid dispenser are provided. A device includes a holder having an opening that is configured to retain the liquid dispenser. A surface of the liquid dispenser is configured to affix a label identifying a liquid within the liquid dispenser. A plurality of lenses are mounted on the holder. Each lens has a respective field of view that includes a respective portion of the surface of the liquid dispenser. In addition, the device includes a plurality of fiber bundles. Each fiber bundle includes an input that is configured to receive a respective signal from a respective one of the plurality of lenses. Further, the device includes an imaging sensor that is configured to receive the respective signals from the plurality of fiber bundles and to form a plurality of images of the surface of the liquid dispenser.

Imaging device for identifying a liquid within a dispenser

A handheld tool includes a handle for holding by a user, an attachment arm extending from the handle that is configured to connect to a user-assistive device, a first inertial measurement unit ('IMU') mounted to the attachment arm to acquire measurements of one or more of a motion or an orientation of the user-assistive device and to generate feedback data indicative of the measurements, an actuator assembly coupled to manipulate the user-assistive device via the attachment arm in at least two orthogonal dimensions, and a motion control system coupled to receive the feedback data from the first IMU and coupled to provide commands to the actuator assembly to provide auto-leveling of the user-assistive device to a frame of reference while the user manipulates the handheld tool.

A portable writing apparatus includes a writing instrument carriage to hold a writing instrument and an actuator system coupled to the writing instrument carriage to move the writing instrument carriage. A controller is electrically coupled to the actuator system, and the controller includes logic that when executed by the controller causes the controller to perform operations including: receiving input data including a user's handwritten characters; and controlling the actuator system to move the writing instrument carriage in response to the input data. The writing instrument carriage traces a shape of the user's handwritten characters.

Apparatus, system, and method to stabilize penmanship and reduce tremor

In general, a method and apparatus for managing available cache memory in a browser are disclosed. Any document stored in a cache memory not having associated with it a strong reference is subject to being reclaimed by a garbage collector. The most recently requested documents, however, are stored in the cache memory with strong references associated therewith thereby precluding them from being reclaimed until such time as the strong reference is abolished. The strong reference is abolished when the document identifier associated with the document stored in the cache memory is not present in the document stack. Therefor, only the most recently requested documents remain stored in the cache memory depending upon the depth of the document stack.

Cache management techniques

A register window file method and apparatus is disclosed. A register file is formed from a plurality of registers. The registers are grouped into a plurality of logical windows. Window selection logic selects among the logical windows and thereby limits access at any given time to the selected logical window. Because access is limited to only one window at a time, an individual register can be selected by specifying its virtual register number. Therefore, there is no need to translate from virtual address numbers to physical address numbers when accessing registers. This means that virtual register number to physical register number translation logic of the prior art is no longer required. Thus, the area on the integrated circuit chip formerly occupied by the translation logic is no longer required. Furthermore, the translation delays per instruction introduced by the translation logic are also eliminated. Moreover, each register only shares read and write lines with the other registers of its window. Therefore, the capacitive load associated with each bit line of the register file is significantly smaller than that of the prior art where each register shared bit lines with every other register of the register file. Because selection is made only among the registers of a single window, smaller, less powerful drivers and sense amplifiers are required to write and read data respectively to and from the register file.

Rapid register file access by limiting access to a selectable register

A single-ended sense amplifier circuit for sensing the state of a bitline in a memory array. The sense amplifier includes an output circuit having an input and an output, the output for indicating a state of the bitline in response to a bitline voltage level. A precharge circuit is coupled to the input for charging the input to a first voltage level when the input is decoupled from the bitline. A discharge circuit is coupled between the bitline and the input. In one embodiment, the discharge circuit includes a field effect transistor coupled as a cascode device for coupling and decoupling the input to the bitline. The discharge circuit couples the input to the bitline when the discharge voltage level exceeds a threshold voltage level of the discharge circuit. The sense amplifier circuit also includes a noise margin circuit coupled to the bitline for charging the bitline to a voltage level that is less than the first voltage level such that the discharge voltage level is less than the threshold voltage level by a predetermined noise margin voltage.

Single ended dynamic sense amplifier

A single-ended sense amplifier circuit for sensing the state of a bitline in a read-only memory. The sense amplifier includes an output circuit having an input and an output, the output for indicating a state of the bitline in response to a bitline voltage level. A precharge circuit is coupled to the input for charging the input to a first voltage level when the input is decoupled from the bitline. A discharge circuit is coupled between the bitline and the input. In one embodiment, the discharge circuit includes a field effect transistor coupled as a cascode device for coupling and decoupling the input to the bitline. The discharge circuit couples the input to the bitline when the discharge voltage level exceeds a threshold voltage level of the discharge circuit. The sense amplifier circuit also includes a noise margin circuit coupled to the bitline for charging the bitline to a voltage level that is less than the first voltage level such that the discharge voltage level is less than the threshold voltage level by a predetermined noise margin voltage.

A bipolar programmable logic array for producing a substantially constant current to a common sense line (16) includes a bandgap circuit portion (14) for generating a temperature-dependent reference voltage and a current source (IS) responsive to the temperature-dependent reference voltage for providing a switching current to the common sense line which is substantially constant over a wide range of temperature variations.

Disclosed is a digital signal translation circuit for translating a first type signal to a second type signal which comprises a master latch and a slave latch. The master latch latches the incoming first type signal during a first portion of the clock signal. A slave latch latches the master latch output and generates a differential output. The differential output of the slave drives an output driver circuit which generates the second type signal.

A single-array memory employs a novel storage cell providing dual read/write access via either an 'A'-side or a 'B'-side. The storage cell uses a unique circuit in which read current is borrowed during writing into the cell. Asymmetrical read/write delay circuitry is provided to avoid overwriting the contents of a storage cell during the read-to-write transition. Row-selection decoders use Schottky-clamping diodes in a way which provide an equivalent oscillation-damping capacitance at the base of the selected-row driver transistor. The single-array memory can be advantageously used as part of a single-chip VLSI four-port register file permitting simultaneous reading and/or writing of registers from any of two read ports or two write ports, respectively. Unidirectional busses connect each storage cell to each of the four ports.

An output voltage driver apparatus for an ECL circuit driving a capacitive load is disclosed which comprises an emitter follower means having an output emitter and a reference emitter. The output emitter is connected to the capacitive load. A pull-down transistor means is connected to the output emitter and provides a transient pull-down current for a capacitive load when the output voltage swings from a high level to a low level. A biasing means is connected between the reference emitter of the emitter follower means and the pull-down transistor means so that the pull-down transistor means is biased to turn on when the voltage at the output emitter is higher than the voltage at the reference emitter by a turn-on voltage. Because the capacitive load will hold the voltage of the output emitter higher than that of the reference emitter until the capacitance of the load is discharged, the pull-down transistor means provides a transient pull-down current which speeds up the switching time of the emitter couple logic circuit.

A temperature compensated differential level shift circuit is provided. An ECL type buffered differential circuit employs a source of threshold voltage, V.sub.T, which matches the temperature-dependent characteristic of the input section of the level shift circuit. In a preferred embodiment, a Schottky diode is provided in the output section of a bandgap reference voltage generator which matches the temperature dependence of a Schottky diode in the input section of the level shift circuit. As temperature shifts, the threshold voltage will shift in a manner that tracks the temperature-produced shift in the input voltage as it passes through the Schottky diode in the input section of the level shift circuit. Matched PNP or NPN transistors may also be used in the input section of the level shift circuit and in the output section of the bandgap reference voltage generator.
