An apparatus () and method () for rendering a tree structure in a GUI depending on a position of a pointing cursor relative to the rendered tree use the cursor position with respect to the tree to control which tree branches to expand/collapse automatically. They reconfigure the tree view for compact presentation without need for explicit expand/collapse operations. A tree view is generated (). A cursor position relative to the view is determined (), consisting of first and second position values according to first and second directions. The branch the cursor position is aligned with according to the first direction is automatically selected as active branch (). Sub-levels of that branch to be expanded are determined (), depending on the second position value relative to indentations of the sub-levels, and the tree view is automatically updated by expanding the determined sub-levels of the active branch and collapsing other branches ().

Data processing apparatus and method for rendering a tree structure

A method and an apparatus for rearrangement of media data using visual representations of the media data are described. A displaying unit displays visual representations of media data items in a temporal order according to temporal metadata of the media data items. An operation unit changes the position of the visual representation of a first media data item upon receipt of a user input. Automatically, the position of the visual representations of some other media data items are changed corresponding to the position change of the visual representation of the first media data item.

A novel method of cleaning and disinfecting organically contaminated articles such as, for instance, medical instruments, wherein the cleaning cycle consists of two sections divided by removal and replenishing the cleaning liquid, in each section of which the temperature of the cleaning liquid is raised to and maintained at between 40&#xb0; C. and 60&#xb0; C. for a predetermined time and the pH-value is raised to between 8.5 and 12 by adding an alkaline cleaning agent. During the second section a low-molecular peroxide compound is added to the cleaning liquid after the cleaning agent.

Method of cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments

In DVB/MPEG transport streams, the PID specifies the assignment of the packets to the different elementary streams. For reproduction of the elementary streams, for instance by a set-top box with outputting via the screen of a television set, the packets of the desired program have to be selected from the transport stream by means of the PIDs using the demultiplexer. This requires in each case the evaluation of the Program Association Table and Program Map Table, and also that the PIDs of the elementary streams to be reproduced be known to the demultiplexer in the set-top box. If the set-top box has a digital interface via which parts of the transport data stream can be stored and reproduced later or via which an arbitrary transport data stream can be fed to the set-top box, the demultiplexer must firstly be reprogrammed with the PIDs. Reproduction simply by the pressing of a reproduction (play) button is possible according to the invention, however, by virtue of the fact that the PID for the packets of at least one of the data streams is set to a predetermined value in the set-top box, the packets with this predetermined value of the PID being selected for reproduction.

Method and apparatus for the reproduction of digital data streams

MPEG2 data streams contain data packets for a set of programs and time stamps for data synchronization purposes. An MPEG2 transport stream is assembled of fixed-length transport packets. The received transport packets of at least one specific program of this set of programs can be stored using for example a DVD Streamer recorder or DVD-RAM recorder. For the real-time playback of recorded specific program data packets each packet needs a separate time stamp. For that reason a timestamp is to be captured for each data packet at recording time. However, capturing of timestamps from a transport stream is a very time consuming action in software implementation processing. Therefore transport stream timestamps are captured for every Nth packet only and the missing timestamps are calculated. Thereby software-processing time is saved for generating the timestamps required for real-time bitstream recording.
