A composite cylinder for an actuator. The cylinder includes a radially inner fibre-reinforced polymer layer defining a hollow bore, a radially outer fibre-reinforced polymer layer, a primary conductive coil, and a first and second secondary conductive coil wound between the radially inner fibre-reinforced polymer layer and the radially outer fibre-reinforced polymer layer. The first secondary conductive coil extends axially along at least a first region of the cylinder and the second secondary conductive coil extends axially along at least a second region of the cylinder, and wherein the primary conductive coil extends axially along at least a central region of the cylinder between the first region and the second region.

Composite cylinder

A latching mechanism is described comprising: a latching component and a retaining component; wherein the latching component comprises means for receiving a hook in use, and a pivoting feature which is configured to allow said latching component to pivot relative to said retaining component.

S-hook latch

An actuator includes: a cylinder, formed of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), that extends along an actuator axis between a cylinder first end and a cylinder second end, and defines a cylinder inner diameter surface; a screw shaft that extends along the actuator axis between a screw shaft first end and a screw shaft second end, that is at least partially within the cylinder, and that is operationally connected, intermediate of the screw shaft first and second ends, to the cylinder second end; a screw shaft head affixed to the screw shaft first end, that in operation rotates relative to the cylinder, and that defines a screw shaft head outer diameter surface that faces the cylinder inner diameter surface with a slip fit therebetween; and a bearing ring affixed to the screw shaft head outer diameter surface, that is formed of polyether ether ketone (PEEK).

Actuator for aircraft

A biasing system for an actuator. The system includes a lock sleeve, a lock shaft, a tine having a tine finger extending along a longitudinal axis, a biasing member and a biasing spring. The biasing member and biasing spring are configured to maintain a position of the tine finger away from the longitudinal axis in the direction of the lock sleeve when the lock shaft and the lock sleeve are deployed, in use, such that, when the lock sleeve is returned, the tine finger is biased against the lock sleeve to prevent the lock sleeve from returning to a locked position before the lock shaft is able to return to a locked position.

Biasing system for an actuator

A ballscrew assembly includes a nut having a first helical groove formed on a radially inner surface and defining an axis, a screw disposed along the axis (X) and within the nut and that includes a second helical groove formed on a radially outer surface and opposed to the first helical groove so as to form a helical raceway. The assembly also includes a plurality of balls disposed in the helical raceway and an annular seal disposed radially between the nut and the screw. The seal includes a resilient body and a layer formed of PTFE and disposed radially between the resilient body and the screw and configured to contact the radially outer surface of the screw. An optional annular scraper is disposed axially adjacent to the seal and is configured to receive fluid at one axial end and expel fluid at a second axial end.

Ballscrew seal

A ballscrew assembly comprises: a nut having a nut body with a radially inner surface and a helical groove formed on the radially inner surface; a screw shaft disposed within the nut, the screw shaft comprising a radially outer surface and a groove formed on the outer surface, the groove on the screw shaft cooperating with the groove on the nut to define a helical raceway for a plurality of balls; at least one lubricant reservoir formed in the nut body at or adjacent to an end of the helical raceway; and a lubricant passage extending through the nut body and fluidly coupled to the at least one lubricant reservoir; wherein the lubricant reservoir is fluidly linked to the helical groove of the nut via the lubricant passage.

Ballnut lubrication

A nacelle for a gas turbine engine, comprising a thrust reverser movable between a stowed position and a deployed position, and a locking system configured to selectively prevent movement of the thrust reverser from the stowed position, the locking system comprising a locking mechanism and an actuator configured to actuate the locking mechanism, wherein the locking mechanism is positioned aft of a blade-off zone defined across the nacelle and the actuator is positioned fore of, or at least partially within, the blade-off zone.

Thrust reverser tertiary locking system

A thrust reverser drive arrangement is described for use in driving a thrust reverser cowl for movement relative to first and second guide tracks, the drive arrangement comprising a first actuator located, in use, close to the first guide track, and a second actuator located, in use, close to the second guide track, the actuators being arranged to be driven in synchronism and at the same speed by a drive motor to drive the cowl for movement, wherein at least one of the first and second actuators is provided with a load limiter to limit the transmission of loads through that actuator in the event that that actuator is subject to a compressive loading greater than a predetermined level.

Thrust reverser actuation

A no-back arrangement is disclosed for use in applying a braking load to a rotary actuator member, the no-back arrangement comprising a no-back device operable to apply a braking load to the rotary actuator member when the rotary actuator member is subject to a tensile loading, and limit means operable to limit the magnitude of the applied braking load.

No-back arrangement

An actuator arrangement comprises a rotatable shaft, a nut mounted upon the shaft and translatable along the shaft upon rotation of the shaft relative to the nut, and a lock arrangement operable to lock the shaft and nut against relative rotation, the lock arrangement comprising a lock component mounted upon one of the shaft and the nut for axial movement relative thereto but held against angular movement relative thereto, the lock component being co-operable with an abutment provided on the other of the shaft and the nut, or a component associated therewith, to lock the shaft and nut to one another against relative rotation.

Actuator arrangement

A thrust reverser drive arrangement for driving a thrust reverser cowl for movement relative to first and second guide tracks is described which comprises a first actuator located, in use, close to the first guide track, a second actuator located, in use, close to the second guide track, and a third actuator, the actuators being arranged to be driven in synchronism and at the same speed by a drive motor to drive the cowl for movement, the third actuator being of smaller size and/or weight than the first and second actuators, and wherein the third actuator is provided with a load limiter to limit the transmission of loads through the third actuator in the event that the third actuator is subject to a compressive loading greater than a predetermined level. The invention further relates to a load limiter device suitable for use in such an arrangement.

A linear hydraulic actuator comprises a hollow main piston axially moveable in an elongate cylinder under the influence of hydraulic pressure, the main piston defining a bore within which a seal member is provided, the seal member forming a sliding seal with the bore of the main piston.

Linear actuator

A thrust reverser actuator lock mechanism comprising a rotatable shaft, rotation of which in one direction from a rest position drives an associated thrust reverser from a stowed position towards an operative position in use, retractable abutment means having a rest position abutting an element rotatable with the shaft to prevent rotation of the shaft, resilient means urging said abutment means to said rest position, and, mechanical latch means sensitive to the speed of rotation of said shaft for latching said abutment means in a retracted position against the action of said resilient means when the rotational speed of said shaft exceeds a predetermined value.
