Embodiments of the present application generally relate to controlling ingress/egress through entryway devices. More particularly, but not exclusively, embodiments of the present invention relate to attaining confirmation of intent relating to access to a controlled opening. According to certain embodiments, the credential device and/or the user of the credential device is prompted to provide a response, or otherwise is to perform certain actions, that can demonstrate a confirmation of intent to gain access to the controlled opening. Such responses and/or actions can be evaluated to determine authority to gain access to the controlled opening. Further, such intent confirmation events may, depending on the embodiment, be performed before or after credential information is communicated from the credential device and/or before or after pairing of the access control device and the credential device. According to other embodiments, intent may be confirmed, at least in part, based on changes in the characteristics of signals communicated from the credential device.

A lock device including a keyway sized and configured to receive a key, a sensor assembly including an optical source and a key height sensor, and a controller in communication with the sensor assembly. The optical source is configured to generate an optical signal, and the key height sensor is configured to generate a key height signal in response to receiving the optical signal. The key is configured to interact with the optical signal such that the key height signal varies based upon the height of the key. The controller is configured to generate a key profile based at least in part upon the key height signal, to compare the key profile to authorization data, to select an action based upon the comparing, and to perform the action.

Systems and methods for key recognition

An exemplary deadbolt includes a pair of rollers positioned on opposing sides of an axial centerline of the deadbolt. The deadbolt may include chamfers or tapered surfaces extending from side surfaces of the deadbolt toward a face of the deadbolt. The rollers may extend beyond the face, one of the side surfaces, and/or one of the tapered surfaces. As the bolt moves from a retracted position to an extended position, one of the rollers may engage an edge of an opening in a strike plate, for example when the deadbolt is misaligned with the strike plate opening. As the rollers engage the edge, the deadbolt may be urged to a more aligned position.

A door assembly includes a door panel connected to a door frame and pivotable about a pivot axis, a door latch coupled to the door panel and operable to selectively inhibit movement of the door from a closed position to an open position, and a sensor coupled to the door latch and operable to detect acceleration of the door and output acceleration data corresponding to the acceleration of the door panel in a first direction. A controller is coupled to the door latch and the sensor. The controller is operable to analyze the acceleration data to determine the cause of the acceleration.

A mechanism for selectively coupling a first moving part with a second moving part. The mechanism includes and engaging member that is movable between a detent position, a uncoupled position, and a coupled position in which the load transferring surface is within the aperture. A biasing member biases the engaging member into the detent position or coupled position. The engaging member overrides the biasing force and moves out of the detent position into the uncoupled position when first and second moving parts move relative to each other. When the engaging member is in the coupled position, the first and second moving parts are coupled for movement together. One embodiment of the invention is a child safety door handle rotating on a spindle. Other embodiments include water faucets, stove or burner controls, or any other rotatable or movable parts.

Apparatuses and methods for displaying feedback indicators via a keypad

A lighted pushbutton assembly includes a carrier including an outer wall that defines an inner space and is continuous along a top surface of the carrier. A rib guide is formed as part of the outer wall and defines an opening extending through a bottom surface of the outer wall and including a first portion extending in a first direction and a second portion extending in a second direction that is non-parallel to the first direction. A pushbutton is shaped to fit substantially within the inner space and a rib is formed as part of the pushbutton and includes a first guide that extends in the first direction and the second guide that extends in the second direction. The first guide is engaged with the first portion and the second guide is engaged with the second portion to guide reciprocating movement of the pushbutton with respect to the carrier.

A corrosion resistant Faraday cage assembly includes an electrically conductive cover and a coated die cast housing having a ledge extending around the perimeter of the housing. A fence is positioned adjacent to the ledge and a track is positioned between the ledge and the fence. A plurality of serrated contact points are positioned on the fence and are used for making electrical contact with the electrically conductive cover extending over the track. The contact points are either masked prior to the protective coating process or they are mechanically or chemically modified afterward to expose a plurality of electrically-conductive surfaces to be in contact with the electrically-conductive cover.
