Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems, apparatuses, and methods for operating the systems and apparatuses are disclosed. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a negative pressure source, a connector port, at least one switch, and a controller. The negative pressure source is connected through the connector port to either (i) a wound dressing having a canister configured to store fluid aspirated from the wound or (ii) a wound dressing without a canister between the connector port and the wound dressing. The controller determines, based on a signal received from the at least one switch, whether the canister is positioned in the fluid flow path and adjusts one or more operational parameters of negative pressure wound therapy based on the determination. The switch is activated by the connection of either the canister or canisterless wound dressing to the apparatus.

A second aerosol-generating substrate in the second chamber. The compositions of the first aerosol-generating substrate and the second aerosol-generating substrate may be the same or different. The first chamber defines a first fresh air inlet and an opposing first aerosol outlet, such that, in use, fresh air entering the first fresh air inlet carries aerosol generated from through the first aerosol outlet. The second chamber defines a second fresh air inlet and an opposing second aerosol outlet, such that, in use, fresh air entering the second fresh air inlet carries aerosol generated from through the second aerosol outlet.

A shisha device () includes a device air inlet (); a device outlet (); an aerosol chamber () and a vessel (). The aerosol chamber has a chamber inlet () and a chamber outlet () and is configured to house a consumable comprising an aerosol-generating substrate (). The vessel has a vessel inlet () and a vessel outlet () and defines an interior configured to contain liquid () when the device is in use. The device is configured such that, in use, airflow through the aerosol chamber that exits the chamber outlet exits the device outlet without flowing through the liquid stored in the vessel. Thus, water soluble constituents in the aerosol may be delivered to a user of the shisha device rather than being dissolved and trapped in the liquid in the vessel.

A shisha device () for use with a cartridge () containing an aerosol-generating substrate () includes a vessel, a receptacle, and an electrical heating element. The cartridge comprises a housing surrounding the aerosol-generating substrate. The vessel defines an interior configured to contain liquid () and defines an outlet in communication with the interior of the vessel. The receptacle is configured to receive the cartridge. The heating element is configured to heat the aerosol-generating substrate in the cartridge to generate an aerosol when the cartridge is received by the receptacle. The heating element is configured to heat the tobacco substrate to an extent sufficient to generate the aerosol without combusting the aerosol-generating substrate.

An infusion pump drive and its methods of use are disclosed. In one embodiment, the infusion pump drive may include a transmission component and a spring in line with the transmission component. Displacing the transmission component may compress the spring to apply a force causing fluid to dispense from an associated reservoir. Depending on the particular embodiment, the transmission component may either be displaced continuously or displaced multiple times to dispense fluid from the reservoir.

The invention provides a beverage production machine having an apparatus for recognizing a package. The apparatus comprises two resonant tank circuits, each comprising a coil and a capacitor; two electronic circuits for detecting changes in coil impedance; a means for generating a signal which is indicative of the changes; and means for controlling the beverage production machine according to the signal. The machine also comprises a holder for supporting the package. The package for use in the machine comprises a base unit having a compartment which contains tea material, and a rim with a projecting lip; conductive material associated with the package having two edge sections situated on opposite sides of the compartment; and a lid attached to the base unit around the rim, the central portion of the lid comprising at least one perforated line. The invention also provides a method of recognizing the package.
