A liquid applied, silicone-based air and water barrier coating composition and its use as a silicone-based air and water barrier is provided. The barrier is generally vapour permeable and suitable for the construction industry. The liquid coating composition generally has a shelf-life of at least 9 months. The liquid coating composition comprises: (i) a crosslinked polysiloxane dispersion comprising (c) a surfactant and (d) water; (ii) a combination of rheology modifiers and at least one of the following ingredients: (iii) one or more fillers and/or (iv) one or more stabilizers.

Silicone-based barrier compositions

Disclosed is the use a polyalkoxylated amino alcohol to solubilize active compounds that are poorly soluble in water, including particularly agricultural actives or pharmaceutical actives. Also disclosed are compositions comprising such actives, water and the polyalkoxylated aminoalcohol.

The liquid coating composition comprises: (i) a crosslinked polysiloxane dispersion comprising (c) a surfactant and (d) water; (ii) one or more rheology modifiers in an amount of from 0.25 to 5 wt. % of the composition; and (iii) an acidic pH stable colloidal silica in an amount of from 15 to 30 wt. % of the composition; and optionally (iv) one or more stabilizers.

A composition comprising a surfactant blend, comprising: a polyethylene glycol, wherein the polyethylene glycol has an average molecular weight of from 5,000 g/mol to 9,000 g/mol; a first ethoxylated alcohol comprising the formula R&#x2014;O(EO)&#x2014;H, where R is an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, or heterocyclic group having 7-25 carbons, where (EO) is a polyoxyethylene chain and where n is from 3 to 9, wherein the first ethoxylated alcohol has a Pour Point below 23&#xb0; C.; and a second ethoxylated alcohol comprising the formula R&#x2014;O(EO)&#x2014;H, where R is an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, or heterocyclic group having 7-25 carbons, where (EO) is a polyoxyethylene chain and where m is from 12 to 20, wherein the second ethoxylated alcohol has a Pour Point at or above 23&#xb0; C., further wherein the first ethoxylated alcohol is from 20 wt % to 80 wt % of a total weight of the surfactant blend.
