A release agent applicator displaying decreased and consistent surface resistivity, and a method of making same. The release agent applicator includes an foam delivery surface having an ionic layer such that the surface resistivity of the delivery surface is reduced, thereby decreasing the chances of static charge accumulation on the roller that may interfere with high quality printing.

Method to reduce surface resistivity of a release agent applicator in a printing apparatus

A support member includes a support panel and a retention element for use in mounting an associated component to the support panel. The retention element defines a bore for receiving an associated threaded fixing element which mounts the component to the support panel. A protrusion extends into the bore from a sidewall thereof. The protrusion assists in positioning the fixing member on reinsertion of the fixing member into the bore, such that the frequency of stripping of a thread of the bore is reduced.

Anti-strip screw boss

A drum heater consisting of a plurality of vanes made preferably from mica material and having multiple separate heater wire channels controlled from an electrical cable is provided for heating the interior of a printer drum or fuser. The drum heater has element wires, which can be operated in two different modes, and which are wound around eight mica vanes. The mica vanes are held together on both ends with mica end caps for assembly, electrical isolation and thermal isolation. The mica vanes additionally define protruding tabs for attachment of wire restraining and protecting mica panels.

Drum heater

The self-contained ball-strike detector uses two transducers to detect the presence of an incoming pitch, and a series of transducers located on the upper surface of a home plate-shaped housing to determine whether the pitched ball is within the strike zone. Ultrasonic transducers are located near both the right and left boundaries of the strike zone. These transducers and a centrally-located transducer emit high frequency signals in the direction of the pitched ball. A reflected signal is used to determine whether the pitched ball is within the strike zone. The size of the strike zone may be changed to accommodate batters of different heights. The apparatus includes audio and visual indicators of whether the pitch is a 'ball' or a 'strike' as well as indicators if the batter is 'out' or is entitled to a 'walk'. The apparatus maintains the ball/strike count for each batter, and has light emitting diodes to visually indicate the current count for the batter.
