A vapor canister and fuel tank assembly for a vehicle includes a fuel tank having an interior chamber and a tank opening communicating with the interior chamber. The vapor canister and fuel tank assembly also includes an insert disposed in the interior chamber and the tank opening and forming a vapor plenum chamber in the tank opening and a canister chamber therein. The vapor canister and fuel tank assembly includes a canister bed disposed in the canister chamber to absorb vapor fuel in the vapor plenum chamber. The vapor canister and fuel tank assembly further includes a coaxial line having one end for connection to an engine of the vehicle and another end connected to the vapor plenum chamber to allow liquid fuel to communicate with the interior chamber and vapor fuel to communicate with the vapor plenum chamber.

Vapor canister and fuel tank assembly

A sheathed electric heater especially of the type used as diesel engine glow plugs has a dual coil heating element including separate tip heater and PTC body control coils thermally isolated by a low resistance connector section made from interengaging small diameter coiled connector portions integral with the tip and body coils and preferably welded together. Preferred material and dimensional specifications and pertinent design considerations are also included.

Quick heat self regulating electric glow heater

A durable automotive exhaust gas oxygen sensor comprises a ceramic sleeve defining a bore and a titania pellet positioned in the bore against a shoulder thereof. Terminal rods and at least one spacer within the bore securely hold the pellet against the shoulder. The rods, spacer and sleeve are bonded together into a unified assembly by a fused glass seal within the bore that is spaced apart from the pellet.

Durable titania exhaust gas sensor

A readily manufacturable heated solid electrolyte oxygen sensor. The sensor includes a generally planar heater supported on a tubular reference electrode terminal in desired position normal to the longitudinal axis of said terminal and parallel to a generally planar solid electrolyte member within a cylindrical housing. The heater and terminal form a subassembly readily assemblable in concentric relationship with the planar solid electrolyte member and the cylindrical housing.

Heated solid electrolyte oxygen sensor

A readily manufacturable heated solid electrolyte oxygen sensor. The sensor includes an elongated heater supported on a tubular reference electrode terminal in desired position relative to a solid electrolyte member within a cylindrical housing. The heater and terminal form a mutually electrically isolated subassembly in which the heater is in predetermined disposition with respect to the solid electrolyte member. An elongated heater is disposed within one or more ceramic sleeves that are in turn disposed within the electrode terminal tube. The heater, sleeves, and the terminal tube are vitreously bonded together to form a subassembly.

Solid electrolyte oxygen sensor with electrically isolated heater

A readily manufacturable heated solid electrolyte oxygen sensor. The sensor includes a heater supported on a tubular reference electrode terminal in desired position relative to a solid electrolyte member within a cylindrical housing. The heater and terminal are constructed as a subassembly readily assemblable in concentric relationship with the solid electrolyte member and the housing.

A readily manufacturable heated solid electrolyte oxygen sensor having an elongated heater supported in subassembly with a tubular terminal for a reference electrode of the sensor. The heater is coaxial with the electrode terminal for predetermined disposition with respect to the sensor solid electrolyte member. The heater includes a rod coaxially in a ceramic tube and a resistance heating coil and crimped outer connector around the ceramic tube. Fused glass, directly bonded to the ceramic tube, supports the heater in the electrode terminal.

A silicon solid state temperature responsive switching device having a thermally dependent P-N junction. The thermally dependent P-N junction is at the interface of a thermally invertible region and a non-invertible region. The thermally invertible region is doped with both P-type and N-type impurities. The P-type impurities have a concentration which is at least about 10 times the concentration of the N-type impurities. The P-type impurities also have an activation energy which is at least about three times the activation energy of the N-type impurities. Below a predetermined temperature, the doping effect of the N-type impurities predominates, and the invertible region is N-type. However, above the predetermined temperature, the doping effect of the P-type impurities predominates. A device insensitive to voltage source polarity is formed by sandwiching the thermally invertible region between two non-invertible regions.
