The present disclosure is directed to embodiments and methods of reducing or eliminating erosion resulting from the use of an occluder, as well as reducing or eliminating other interference with cardiac tissue by an occluder, including reducing pressure on cardiac tissue, minimizing micro-perforations, and/or minimizing residual leak by improving sealing around the occluder. In particular, the present disclosure is directed to providing an external skirt on an occluder that improves sealing of the occluder while reducing interference with the cardiac tissue by the occluder.

The present disclosure is directed to embodiments of an occlusive medical device including a frame and at least one closure coupled to the frame. The frame includes a distal annular flange having a radially outer surface and a radially inner surface, a proximal annular flange having a radially outer surface and a radially inner surface, and a waist portion extending between and connecting the distal annular flange to the proximal annular flange. The radially inner surface of the distal annular flange, the waist member, and the radially inner surface of the proximal annular flange define an unobstructed passageway through the frame. The at least one closure is configured to close the passageway to: (i) provide an occlusive effect, and (ii) enable subsequent access through the passageway.

Described herein is a medical device including a frame having proximal and distal ends. The frame includes a proximal disc at the proximal end, a distal disc at the distal end, and a connecting segment extending between the proximal end and the distal end and connecting the proximal and distal discs. Each of the proximal and distal discs includes a respective plurality of lobes. Each lobe is defined by a peripheral strut. The medical device also includes at least one patch. The at least one patch is coupled to at least one of the proximal and distal discs of the frame.

Devices and methods for the treatment of vascular abnormalities

A delivery cable for delivering a medical device and a delivery device including the same are described herein. The delivery cable includes a flexible inner core, an outer coil surrounding at least a portion of the flexible inner core, and a pull wire disposed between the flexible inner core and the outer coil, the pull wire configured to deflect a distal deflectable portion of the delivery cable upon manipulation thereof. Methods of making the delivery cable and methods of using the delivery cable to deploy a medical device are also described herein.

The present disclosure provides improved medical delivery devices for delivering a medical device into a subject. In one embodiment, the medical delivery device includes a non-porous composite inner layer constructed of a lubricious material having a plurality of pores and a thermoplastic elastomer reflowed into the plurality of pores. In other embodiments, the medical delivery device further includes a thermoplastic elastomer coated braided metallic member surrounding the nonporous composite inner layer to provide strength and structure to the device.

A prosthetic heart valve includes a collapsible stent and a valve assembly disposed within the stent. A first cuff is disposed adjacent the stent. A filler is annularly disposed about the stent radially outward of the first cuff and radially outward of the stent. The filler has a first circumferential layer with a first inner wall, a first outer wall, and a plurality of first ribs connecting the first inner wall to the first outer wall. The filler has an expanded condition in which the first inner wall is spaced a first distance from the first outer wall in a radial direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the stent, and a collapsed condition in which the first inner wall is spaced a second distance from the first outer wall in the radial direction, the first distance being greater than the second distance.

A medical device is provided in which one or both ends of the device encourage the formation of tissue across substantially the entire area of the respective end that is exposed to the blood flow for reducing the risk of a thrombotic embolism. The medical device further includes stabilizing wires configured to engage tissue at a target site when the medical device is in an expanded configuration and to at least partially retract into the medical device when the medical device is in a collapsed configuration.

Medical devices such as catheters can include structure or provision that permit a physician or other health care professional to adjust the stiffness of at least a portion of the medical device. The present disclosure provides improved medical devices for occluding a left atrial appendage. In one embodiment, the medical device includes a temperature activated memory shape foam that is constructed to transition from a first collapsed conformation to a second expanded conformation upon an increase in temperature such that it can expand to provide an occlusive benefit inside a left atrial appendage. In another embodiment the medical device includes a flowable thermoset that is injected into the left atrial appendage where is it cured so that it may assume the conformation of the left atrial appendage and provide an occlusive benefit.

A stent delivery catheter for positioning a stent across a lesion of a blood vessel is disclosed. The catheter includes an inflation balloon coupled to a distal region of the elongate shaft of the catheter and a stent loaded on the inflation balloon. The catheter may also include an occlusion balloon having a proximal waist secured to the elongate shaft and a distal waist secured to the elongate shaft. The occlusion balloon includes a first folded-over portion extending distal of the distal waist to a distalmost extent of the occlusion balloon and a second folded-over portion extending proximal of the proximal waist to a proximalmost extent of the occlusion balloon. The catheter further includes a fluid discharge port located distal of the occlusion balloon for discharging a lubricious fluid exterior of the elongate shaft toward the stent to facilitate advancing the stent across an occlusion.

A medical implant includes a metallic base, a tie layer, and at least a first layer overlying an outer surface of the tie layer. The tie layer is bonded to at least a portion of a surface of the metallic base. The tie layer includes magnesium or a magnesium-based alloy. The tie layer can have an outer surface comprising dendritic grains. The tie layer can have a rough outer surface defined by pores, projecting grain structures, and/or projecting particles. A method of producing a tie layer on a medical device includes applying magnesium or a magnesium-based alloy to the medical device and cooling the magnesium or the magnesium-based alloy to produce a rough outer surface.
