A device and a method for increasing or restoring a flow in a body lumen are provided. The device and the method may treat conditions related to a stroke, such as an ischemic stroke, by removing an occlusion from a blood vessel and/or reopen a blood vessel. The device may comprise a tubing compartment, a central wire, and an engaging compartment. The engaging compartment may comprise a distal engaging element and a proximal engaging element. A clot or occlusion present in the body lumen such as an artery may be engaged in and/or between the distal and proximal engaging elements. Further, the positions of one or both of the engaging elements and the distance therebetween can be adjusted to ensure the engagement of the clot or occlusion.

Intravascular thromboembolectomy device and method using the same

Devices and methods for increasing or restoring a flow in a body lumen. The devices and the methods may treat conditions like stroke by removing a clot from a blood vessel and/or reopen the vessel. The device may include a plurality of engaging elements, a central wire, and proximal control element. The device may include a linking structure between engaging elements. The linking structure may include segments configured to respond differently upon the application of longitudinal loads. The positions of the engaging elements and the distance therebetween can be adjusted simultaneously or sequentially to promote the engagement of the clot or occlusion. The device may include be configured to inhibit or prevent the proximal engaging element from being pulled back into a microcatheter when pulling the central wire to pull the distal engaging element proximally and/or during retraction of the device holding a clot.

Intravascular thromboembolectomy devices and methods

A method for increasing or restoring a flow in a body lumen can treat conditions related to a stroke, such as an ischemic stroke, by removing an occlusion from a blood vessel and/or reopen a blood vessel. The method makes use of a device that includes a central wire, a pusher tube, a distal structure, and a proximal structure into the blood vessel, in which the distal structure is closed at its proximal end. A clot or occlusion present in the body lumen such as an artery may be engaged in and/or between the distal and proximal engaging elements. Further, the positions of one or both of the engaging elements and the distance between them can be adjusted to ensure the engagement of the clot or occlusion.

Intravascular thromboembolectomy device comprising a plurality of clot engaging elements and method using the same

An intracorporeal space filling device and a delivery system and method for using the device is disclosed. The space filling device is preferably configured for percutaneous delivery from a peripheral conduit of a patient. The space filling device has an elongated tubular or interconnected bead structure which may have a transmutable material disposed within it. The transmutable material can be altered from a non-rigid state to a rigid state by the application of various types of energy or by other suitable means. The space filling device can be positioned by a delivery system and detached from the delivery system after desired positioning is achieved.

Intracorporeal occlusive device and method

Apparatus and method for placing a vaso-occlusion wire at a selected site in a vessel. The apparatus includes a catheter, and a pusher-and-wire assembly in which a vaso-occlusion wire is held in an axially clamped position until the wire has been advanced beyond the end of the catheter. The assembly may be adapted for guiding the catheter to the site, either by flow-directed or wire-directed movement.
