Authentication processing is provided which includes generating an authentication parameter as a function of a time-dependent input using a predetermined transformation having an inverse transformation. Multiple authentication modes are supported, with a bit-length of the time-dependent input of one authentication mode being different from a bit-length of the time-dependent input of another authentication mode. Generating the authentication parameter is dependent, in part, on whether the time-dependent input is of the one authentication mode or the other authentication mode, and includes performing multiple rounds of transformation of the time-dependent input. A time-dependent password including a character string is generated from the authentication parameter using another predetermined transformation having another inverse transformation. The time-dependent password is forwarded within the authentication system for authentication by an authenticator.

Authentication system(s) with multiple authentication modes using one-time passwords of increased security

The electronic devices are positioned in proximity to a computing device for sharing cached hierarchies of each device as well as hierarchies of the aggregated devices. The electronic devices are provided in proximity to a charge distribution unit (CDU) for determining if each electronic device has enough battery power to complete all, or a portion, of a requested task. If any device needs charging, the CDU allocates and distributes battery power from one or more other device batteries and/or power outlet. The charging power is then transferred to the electronic device in need of charging to fulfill the requested task.

The method, computer program product and computer system may include a computing device that receives source content. The computing device may determine a first relationship. The first relationship corresponds to a relationship between a first portion of the source content and a second portion of the source content. The computing device may determine a first location of the first relationship within an index. The computing device may identify a user location within the index. The computing device may determine whether the user location is located beyond the first location within the index. The computing device may display the first relationship to the user based on the determination that the user location is beyond the first location.

Self-building smart encyclopedia

Apparatus, systems and methods for managing and distributing electronic device battery power charge to electronic devices having batteries in need of charging. The electronic devices are positioned in proximity to a charge distribution unit (CDU) and a controller, which receive battery signal data including battery power level data transmitted from the electronic devices. Using the battery power level data the controller analyzes the battery signal data to determine an allocated amount of battery power charge required for charging each device battery to a desired battery charge. The CDU receives these allocated amounts and initiates transfer thereof from a power source in communication with the invention. Allocated amount(s) of battery power charge are transferred from the power source by sharing power source charging power amongst the electronic device batteries to ensure each electronic device has available battery power at a time when needed.

Portable device control and management

Reconfigurable backup and caching devices

Embodiments of the present invention provide a system for backing up personal data between two mated (i.e., paired) network attached storage (NAS) devices. The system includes a local storage device and a secondary storage device that communicate over a network (e.g., the Internet) via a network connection. Any data added or modified on the local storage device will be automatically mirrored (i.e., copied) to the secondary storage device, which may be located at a secure remote site, pursuant to a data mirroring technique.

Fabricating preassembled optoelectronic interconnect structures is provided, which have an optical waveguide link with first and second optoelectronic circuits attached to first and second ends of the waveguide link. The optoelectronic circuits include active optical componentry which facilitates optical signal communication across the optical waveguide link. Further, first and second pluralities of electrical contacts are associated with the first and second optoelectronic circuits, respectively, to facilitate electrically, operatively connecting the interconnect structure between first and second components of an electronic assembly as, for instance, a single, field-replaceable unit. The first and second components of the electronic assembly may be, for instance, stacked electronic components of the electronic assembly, or laterally offset components of a substantially planar electronic assembly.

Fabricating preassembled optoelectronic interconnect structures

An interconnect component is provided fabricated as a preassembled optoelectronic interconnect structure. The interconnect structure has an optical waveguide link with first and second optoelectronic circuits attached to first and second ends of the waveguide link. The optoelectronic circuits include active optical componentry which facilitates optical signal communication across the optical waveguide link. Further, first and second pluralities of electrical contacts are associated with the first and second optoelectronic circuits, respectively, to facilitate electrically, operatively connecting the interconnect structure between first and second components of an electronic assembly as, for instance, a single, field-replaceable unit. Preassembled optoelectronic interconnect structure

A method of managing data flow may include assigning, along a communication route, a predetermined total energy consumption limit for a network adaptor having a first and a second network adaptor port card, whereby the route transmits data between a first and a second node within the network. Along the route, a total energy consumption value for the network adaptor is determined based on the transmitted data. The assigned total energy consumption limit is compared with the determined total energy consumption value of the network adaptor. The transmitted data is determined as being data of a known duration and data of an unknown duration based on the comparing resulting in the determined total energy consumption value exceeding the assigned total energy consumption limit. The data of a known duration is transferred from the first network adaptor to the second network adaptor and the first network adaptor is powered off.

Energy management for communication network elements

A redundant power supply configuration for a data center is provided. A method includes receiving instructions to operate power supplies at a high current mode. An individual current for each of the power supplies is calculated to total a high current at the high current mode. The power supplies are operated at the high current mode to provide the high current at the high current mode. In response to operation at the high current mode being complete, the power supplies are operated at a normal mode to provide a normal current at the normal current mode.

Redundant power supply configuration for a data center

A system is provided. The system includes a computing device by which first and second commands are inputted, first and second resources disposed in communication with the computing device to be receptive of the first command and responsive to the first command with first and second energy demands in first and second response times, respectively and a managing unit. The managing unit is disposed in communication with the computing device to be receptive of the first and second commands and with the first and second resources to allocate tasks associated with the first command to one of the first and second resources. The tasks are allocated in accordance with the second command and the second command is based on the first and second energy demands and the first and second response times.

System to provide regular and green computing services

A datacenter schedules and executes requests to conserve energy. The datacenter uses an event-based opportunistic approach to schedule and run the requests, which provides energy efficiency. The requests are hierarchically batched and sent to the datacenter for scheduling and execution. They are selectively sent over low power links and selectively serviced by low power processors.
