A drug delivery device includes a housing, a drug delivery assembly disposed within the housing along a longitudinal axis, and a cap defining a shell. At least one electronic component, a power source, and a switch assembly are at least partially disposed in and coupled to the cap. The switch assembly is movable along a plane orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the drug delivery assembly to cause the power source to provide power to the electronic component. The device further includes an activation mechanism at least partially disposed in the cap. Upon urging the cap along the longitudinal axis in a direction away from the housing, the activation mechanism engages the switch assembly and causes the switch assembly to move, thereby causing the power source to provide power to the at least one electronic component.

Electronic drug delivery device

A drug delivery device includes a housing defining a shell, a drug delivery assembly at least partially disposed within the housing, a cap defining an opening and being adapted to at least partially cover an end of the housing, at least one electronic component, a power source which powers the at least one electronic component, and a switch assembly. The drug delivery assembly comprises a guard which engages an inner surface of the housing and is movable between a first position, a second position, and a third position relative to the housing and is adapted to restrict external contact with a cannula. The switch assembly causes the power source to provide power to the at least one electronic component when the cap is removed from the housing, restrict the power source from providing power when the cap is coupled to the housing and the guard is in the first position, and cause the power source to provide power when the cap is coupled to the housing and the guard is in the third position.

A medical device with limited computational capability includes medical hardware, a first register to store a static, substantially unique identifier of the medical device, a second register to store a static encryption key, an interface to receive and transmit data over a short-range communication link, and processing hardware. The processing hardware is configured to apply the static encryption key to the identifier of the medical device to generate an encrypted identifier, transmit the encrypted identifier of to another device via the interface, receive an encrypted identifier of the other device, decrypt the encrypted identifier of the other device using the static encryption key to determine an identifier of the other device, generate a dynamic encryption key using the identifier of the medical device and the identifier of the other device, and apply the dynamic encryption key to medical data transmitted between the medical device and the other device.

A mobile device (e.g., wireless wheeled vehicle) that includes one or more propulsion mechanisms (e.g., one or more drive wheels) and a member (e.g., a mechanized tail). The propulsion mechanism(s) are operable to propel the mobile device across a driving surface. The member is positionable to maintain or change an orientation of the mobile device with respect to the driving surface. The member has a base portion opposite a free end portion. The base portion is pivotably mounted to a portion of the mobile device. The base portion is pivotable to move the free end portion toward and away from the driving surface.

Mechanized tail for mobile devices

A system comprises a mobile device, a spatial profiling device, and a mobile device manager. The mobile device comprises a platform, a first communications circuit that receives navigation instructions, and a motion drive that propels the platform according to the navigation instructions. The spatial profiling device captures a spatial profile of a motion area. The mobile device manager comprises at least one second communications circuit that communicates with the first communications circuit and the spatial profiling device, processor(s), and memory storing processing instructions. The instructions, when executed, cause the mobile device manager to receive spatial profiles, locate the mobile object, locate the mobile device, plan a movement for the mobile device which avoids the mobile object, and communicate the movement to the mobile device as navigation instructions.

Animal exerciser system

A system and processes for the accurate measurement and control of image color values on a printing press with or without the presence of a color bar. More particularly, a universal closed loop color control system and processes for controlling the color quality of color images printed on a substrate online or offline, with or without a color bar printed on the substrate. The system may be run in a 'Color Bar Mode' and scan simple rectangular color patches corresponding to each ink key in the print units, or can run in 'Gray Spot Mode' and maintain overall target ink density values on the substrate as well as gray balance if the job has critical half tone images, or if the color bar is obtrusive on the job.

Universal closed loop color control

A system and processes for the accurate measurement and control of image color values on a printing press with or without the presence of a color bar. More particularly, a barless color control system and processes for controlling the color quality of color images printed on a substrate online or offline, with or without a color bar printed on the substrate. The system provides an efficient and inexpensive method for barless closed loop color control and the processes are conducted without pixel-by-pixel comparisons.

Barless closed loop color control

A system for the accurate measurement and control of image color density on an operating printing press. The method and apparatus control the printing of a multicolored image by controlling the amount of each of the inks used to print an image based on the color densities of each of the inks detected in printed images. The process includes controlling the positioning and linear movement of a strobe and a digital video camera across a substrate having images printed thereon; illuminating the images with a strobe; selecting and acquiring the images via a digital video camera and producing a digitized representation thereof; selecting a portion of the images; measuring and analyzing the color intensity of the selected portion of the images and producing reflective density values thereof, and storing said reflective density values in a first memory; comparing the reflective density values for the portion of the images to standard density values in a second memory for the portion of the images.

Active color control for a printing press

A method to detect invalid polygons that are inputted by users using a graphical user-interface is presented. The method selects pairs of lines that are used to define the polygon and tests to determine if the lines crossover. If there are no crossovers, then the polygon is a valid polygon. If there is a pair of lines that do crossover one another, then the polygon is an invalid polygon. Such a method is useful in teaching polygons and their properties to novices and students.

Invalid shape detector (ISD)

A reusable refillable binder for use with papers having marginal perforations. The binder including a spiral coil having tapered ends, each of the ends of the coil having an area width for receipt of a removable locking element. A removable locking element for securement to binding element about the area of reduced width to prevent the unintentional unbinding of the binder when secured to the coil and to allow the user to unbind the binder when the locking element is removed.

A ring type binder for perforated sheets or the like in which two members are coaxially secured so that a slot is formed along each longitudinal edge of the members. Another partially open ring member is provided that is configured to be slidably received in the slots so that ring member may be moved from an opened to a closed position. A locking device is provided so that the binder may be selectively locked in the closed portion, thereby preventing the unwanted shifting of the members.

A reusable/refillable binder for papers and the like having marginal perforations. The binder includes a binding element having opposite coiled ends and a multiplicity of spiral coils disposed therebetween adapted to be received within the perforations in the papers in threaded relations thereof. Each coiled end of the binding element includes an aperture extending therethrough. A removable locking element is coupled to the aperture at each respective coiled end of the binding element and to one of the multiplicity of spiral coils to prevent rotation of the multiplicity of spiral coils and thus unbinding of the papers from the binder.

Reusable/refillable spiral binder

A meter (10) for measuring extremely-low-frequency radiation includes a coil circuit (22) whose output is filtered by a sharp-cut-off high-pass filter (24) to pass standard house-current frequencies but suppress the frequency components that would predominate as a result of movement of the meter with respect to the earth's magnetic field. An integrator (26) compensates for the frequency response of the coil circuit (22), an RMS circuit (35) converts the signal to its root-mean-square value, and a display circuit (28) provides a display determined by the resultant signal.
