A polymer-based substrate is proposed, which in particular is electrostatically coatable, wherein the substrate has a substrate base body made using a polymeric material and a two- or multi-layer coating applied to a surface region of the substrate base body, wherein a first layer of the coating is configured as a bonding layer and is arranged in contact with the surface region of the substrate base body, wherein a second layer of the coating is configured as a lacquerable cover layer, wherein at least one layer of the coating is produced as a layer with reduced surface resistance using a proportion of an electrically non-insulating material, such that it results in a specific surface resistance of this layer of about 10Ohm or less, and wherein at least one layer of the coating is configured as a film.

Polymer-based substrate and method for producing the same

A spacer is provided that is shapable into a spacer frame, and during manufacture of an insulating glass unit, can be mounted on the glass panes. The spacer is formed having an inner surface, an outer surface and two lateral surfaces extending at either side of the spacer from the inner surface to the outer surface, and comprises a profiled body. The profiled body comprises two mutually spaced lateral faces running parallel to its longitudinal direction and a base body that extends between the lateral faces and has an outer and an inner face. The profiled body comprises at least in one part of its volume a quantity of particulate desiccant that is embedded in a plastics material. The spacer is coilable about an axis, perpendicularly to the lateral surfaces, and takes a flexurally rigid form in a plane perpendicular to the lateral surfaces.

Spacer for insulated glass units

A polymer-based substrate is proposed, which in particular is electrostatically coatable, wherein the substrate comprises a substrate base body made using a polymeric material and a coating applied to a surface region of the substrate base body, wherein the polymeric material comprises a first polymer, wherein the coating comprises a matrix polymer and an additive which is dispersed in the matrix polymer and reduces the surface resistance of the coating, said additive having a proportion that is selected such that the specific surface resistance of the coating is about 10Ohm or less, and wherein the matrix polymer is selected such that it is compatible with the first polymer.

A method for producing insulating profiles comprises manufacturing a profile body and a first functional element separately, and the profile body and the first functional element are supplied to an ultrasonic welding device, wherein the profile body and the functional element are connected to one another by a material bond by formation of a welded joint. The profile body and the functional element are brought together into a predetermined first cross-sectional geometry during formation of the welded joint and are thereafter guided in this cross-sectional geometry until the plastics material of the welded joint solidifies to such an extent that the profile body and the first functional element are fixed in the predetermined cross-sectional geometry.

Method for the production of an insulating profile

A spacer for insulating glass panes comprises a profile body made using a first plastics material, which has a substantially U-shaped cross section with first and second side walls arranged in parallel, each having a free end and an inner wall extending between the first and the second side wall, and a vapor diffusion barrier made of a poorly heat conducting material, extending from the free end of the first side wall to the free end of the second side wall, wherein the vapor diffusion barrier is arranged substantially in parallel to and spaced apart from the inner wall. The profile body together with the vapor diffusion barrier encloses a cavity of the spacer which is optionally configured to accommodate a desiccant.
