The present invention relates to the use of comb polymers comprising, in the main chain, repeat units which are derived from polyolefin-based macromonomers, and repeat units which are derived from low molecular weight monomers selected from the group consisting of styrene monomers having 8 to 17 carbon atoms, alkyl (meth)acrylates having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, vinyl esters having 1 to 11 carbon atoms in the acyl group, vinyl ethers having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, (di)alkyl fumarates having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, (di)alkyl maleates having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group and mixtures of these monomers, where the molar degree of branching is in the range of 0.1 to 10 mol % and the comb polymer comprises a total of at least 80% by weight, based on the weight of the repeat units, of repeat units which are derived from polyolefin-based macromonomers and repeat units which are derived from low molecular weight monomers selected from the group consisting of styrene monomers having 8 to 17 carbon atoms, alkyl (meth)acrylates having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, vinyl esters having 1 to 11 carbon atoms in the acyl group, vinyl ethers having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, (di)alkyl fumarates having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group, (di)alkyl maleates having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in the alcohol group and mixtures of these monomers, for reducing the fuel consumption of vehicles.

Use of comb polymers for reducing fuel consumption

The present invention relates to a transmission lubricant comprising at least 30% by weight of polyalkyl (meth)acrylate. The present invention further describes polyalkyl (meth)acrylates for use in lubricants and also processes for preparing them and their use. The present lubricants can be used particularly in wind turbine transmissions.

Transmission lubricant

The invention relates to the use of graft polymers obtained by polymerization in two stages. In a first stage, at least one graft basis is produced by radically polymerizing a monomer composition A) containing 0 to 40 percent by weight of one or several ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of formula (I), wherein R represents hydrogen or methyl, Rrepresents a linear or branched alkyl radical comprising 1 to 5 carbon atoms, Rand Rindependently represent hydrogen or a group of formula &#x2014;COOR', wherein R&#x2032; represents hydrogen or an alkyl group comprising 1 to 5 carbon atoms, 60 to 100 percent by weight of one or several ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of formula (II), wherein R represents hydrogen or methyl, Rrepresents a linear or branched alkyl radical comprising 6 to 40 carbon atoms, Rand Rindependently represent hydrogen or a group of formula &#x2014;COOR&#x2032;, wherein R&#x2032; represents hydrogen or an alkyl group comprising 6 to 40 carbon atoms, and 0 to 40 percent by weight of comonomers, the percentages being relative to the weight of monomer composition A). In a second stage, a monomer composition B) containing 20 to 100 percent by weight of at least one monomer that comprises at least one nitrogen-containing group is grafted onto the graft basis in order to reduce wear in lubricant oil compositions. Said graft polymer comprises a maximum of 200 ppm of sulfur while the weight ratio between monomer composition A) and monomer composition B) ranges between 99.7:0.3 and 80:20.

Use of graft polymers

The present invention relates to the use of ester group-including polymers having at least one nonpolar segment P and at least one polar segment D, where the polar segment D includes at least 8 repeating units, and the proportion of dispersing repeating units in the polar segment D is at least 30% by weight based on the weight of the polar segment D, as antifatigue additive in lubricants.

Use of ester group-including polymers as antifatigue additives

The invention relates to the use of polyalkyl ester for reducing the temperature in a lubricating oil composition. The polyalkyl ester has a specific viscosity &#x3b7;of between 5 and 30 ml/g, measured in chloroform at 25&#xb0; C.

Use of polyalkyl (meth)acrylates in lubricating oil compositions

Copolymers are obtainable by polymerizing a monomer composition composed of a) 0% to 40% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of the formula (I), b) 10% to 99.9% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of the formula (II), c) 0% to 80% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of the formula (III), d) 0.1% to 30% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated, polar ester compounds of the formula (IV), e) 0% to 50% by weight of comonomer, based in each case on the total weight of the ethylenically unsaturated monomers.

Polyalkyl (meth)acrylate copolymers having outstanding properties

The invention relates to a lubricating oil composition with good frictional properties, the composition having a lubricating oil and at least one additive having friction-reducing properties. The additive with friction-reducing properties is a block copolymer having hydrophobic segments P and polar segments D. The hydrophobic segments are obtained by polymerization of monomer compositions having a) between 0 and 40 wt. %, in relation to the weight of the monomer compositions for producing the hydrophobic segments, of at least one ethylenically unsaturated ester compound of formula (I), in which R represents hydrogen or methyl, Rrepresents a linear or branched alkyl radical having between 1 and 5 carbon atoms, and Rand Rindependently represent hydrogen or a group of formula &#x2014;COOR', in which R&#x2032; represents hydrogen or an alkyl group having between 1 and 5 carbon atoms.

Lubricating oil composition with good frictional properties

(EN) The invention relates to a polymer comprising 50-100% by weight, with regard to the weight of the polymers, of repeating units, which are derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of formula (I), in which R represents hydrogen or methyl; Rrepresents a linear or unbranched alkyl radical with 7 to 30 carbon atoms, and; Rand Rindependently represent hydrogen or a group of formula &#x2014;COOR', wherein R&#x2032; represents hydrogen or an alkyl group with 7 to 30 carbon atoms. The polymer is a star polymer with 3 to 21 arms and at least 3 of the arms consist of at least 40% by weight, with regard to the weight of the arms, of repeating units, which are derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of formula (I), in which Rrepresents a linear or unbranched alkyl radical with 7 to 30 carbon atoms, and; Rand Rindependently represent hydrogen or a group of formula &#x2014;COOR&#x2032;, wherein R&#x2032; represents hydrogen or an alkyl group with 7 to 30 carbon atoms. The invention also relates to oil formulations comprising the inventive polymers. The inventive polymers having a high thickening action can be used, in particular, as viscosity modifiers, pour point depressants, dispersing agents and/or friction modifiers.

Oil soluble polymers

Copolymers are obtainable by polymerizing a monomer composition containing a) 0% to 40% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of the formula (I), b) 10% to 99.9% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of the formula (II), c) 0% to 80% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated ester compounds of the formula (III), d) 0.1% to 30% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated, polar ester compounds of the formula (IV), and e) 0% to 50% by weight of comonomer, based in each case on the total weight of the ethylenically unsaturated monomers.
