A remote temperature detector system comprises a reference thermal mass; a temperature sensor in thermal contact with the reference thermal mass for monitoring temperature thereof and generating temperature signals indicative of the monitored temperature; an infrared detector for detecting infrared radiation emitted by an external object and generating infrared detection signals; and a processor in communication with the temperature sensor and the infrared detector to receive the temperature and infrared detection signals, wherein the processor is configured to operate on the infrared detection signals and temperature signals to estimate temperature of the one or more external objects.

Imaging method and device

An imaging system for obtaining images having enhanced features is described. The imaging system includes an optical system that receives and direct light from a field of view to two or more image planes. The image planes are optically coupled and configured to detect at least a portion of the received light and generate image data corresponding to the field of view. The system can include a processor that receives the image data generated by each plane and combines the data to form a combined image. The combined image can have a higher resolution than any image that can be obtained from the individual image sensors and the image plane may be curved to reduce the cost of optics. The processor can detect objects (e.g., moving objects) contained in images obtained from one image plane and configure the other image planes to obtain more detailed images of the detected objects.

Method and apparatus for obtaining enhanced resolution images

An imaging system includes one or more cameras, a display and processing system. The system can include a processor for receiving image data sets to generate combined images of the field of view and a magnified stabilized portion. Various embodiments emulate a digital magnifier or digital mirror applications. In some implementations, the processor can employ the captured images to detect one or more objects of interest (e.g., one or more objects moving within the field of view), in particular the object being magnified, the users' hand and fingers, along with gestures and held tools to affect the acquisition, tracking and magnification of the active work area.

In one aspect, the present invention provides an imaging system, which includes an optical system for collecting light from a field of view and directing it to an image plane. One or more image detecting elements are disposed on a movable platform coupled to the image plane. The image detecting elements detect the collected light and generate image data corresponding to the field of view. A processor in communication with the image detecting elements receives the image data. The processor is configured to effect movement of the platform to move the one or more image detecting elements within the image plane to gather the image data.

In one aspect, the invention provides an imaging system including an optical system adapted to receive light from a field of view and direct the received light to two image planes. A fixed image detector is optically coupled to one of the image planes to detect at least a portion of the received light and generate image data corresponding to at least a portion of the field of view. A movable (e.g., rotatable) image detector is optically coupled to the other image plane to sample the received light at different locations thereof to generate another set of image data at a higher resolution than the image data obtained by the fixed detector. The system can include a processor for receiving the two sets of image data to generate two images of the field of view. In some implementations, the processor can employ one of the images (typically the image having a lower resolution) to detect one or more objects of interest (e.g., one or more objects moving within the field of view) and to effect the acquisition of image data corresponding to one or more of those moving objects at a higher resolution (e.g., by controlling the movement of the movable image detector).

In one aspect, the invention provides an imaging system adapted to simultaneously receive light from wide and narrow fields of view, with the wide filed image data collected by an array of fixed position cameras, and the narrow field data collected by a panable, tiltable room camera at higher resolution than the fixed array in a selected orientation, and a compound viewing cover that includes two separated pieces interlocked with one another.

In one aspect, the invention provides an imaging system adapted to simultaneously receive light from wide and narrow fields of view, with the wide filed image data collected by an array of fixed position cameras, and the narrow field data collected by a panable, tiltable zoom camera at higher resolution than the fixed array in a selected orientation, and a compound viewing cover that includes two separated pieces interlocked with one another.

In one aspect, the invention provides an imaging system including an optical system adapted to receive light from a field of view and direct the received light to two image planes. The present invention provides methods and systems for storage of data. In one aspect, the invention provides a data storage system that includes a plurality of storage devices, such as, disks, for storing data, and a controller that implements a policy for managing distribution of power to the storage devices, which are normally in a power-off mode. In particular, the controller can effect transition of a storage device from a power-off mode to a power-on mode upon receipt of a request for reading data from or writing data to that storage device. The controller further effects transition of a storage device from a power-on mode to a power-off mode if no read/write request is pending for that storage device and a selected time period, e.g., a few minutes, has elapsed since the last read/write request for that storage device. In another aspect, the present invention provides a data storage system that includes a plurality of cooling plates, each with one or more storage devices thermally coupled thereto. More specifically, for example, a cooling plate can have a storage device thermally coupled to each of two opposed cooling surfaces. A heat exchanging device can be thermally coupled to the cooling plates, e.g., via fluid channels carrying a cooling fluid, for dissipating heat generated by the storage devices.

High density storage system

The present invention provides an image acquisition and viewing system that employs a fish-eye lens and an imager, such as, a CCD array, to obtain a wide angle image, e.g., an image of a hemispherical field of view. The system of the invention further includes a primary display for displaying the image, and a secondary display for presenting a perspective-corrected view of a selected portion of the image. A processor effects correction of a selected portion of the image for distortions introduced by the fish-eye lens by utilizing methods according to the teachings of the invention. The processor further effects the display of the image and its perspective-corrected portion thereof on the primary and the secondary displays, respectively. Moreover, the processor effects the display of a graphical object on the first display to delineate the portion that is presented on the secondary display. This allows a viewer to view simultaneously the image and the perspective-corrected portion, thereby gleaning information regarding the context of the perspective-corrected portion within the entire image while viewing it.

The present invention provides a digital signal processor (DSP) to peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus interface/bridging system. The system includes an intermediate bus; a bridge module that is coupled between the PCI bus and the intermediate bus. The bridge module includes a PCI interface and an intermediate bus interface and an IDMA channel coupled between the PCI interface and the intermediate bus interface. A control module is coupled between the bridge module and the DSP circuit, said control module having an intermediate bus control circuit and a DSP control circuit having a slave port controller coupled to the slave port (HPI) of the DSP and a master port controller coupled to the master port (EMIF) of the DSP circuit, whereby the master port continues to transfer data from the DSP circuit to the PCI bus when an additional master circuit is asserted on the PCI bus. The system provides a direct connect solution that also provides arbitration for multiple DSPs.
