A drill guide handle configured to engage a variable angle drill guide, including: a handle grip; a first cannula extending from a proximal end of the drill guide handle to a distal end of the drill guide handle, wherein the first cannula is configured to provide a zero degree insertion angle for a drill bit; and a body including: a first tab and a second tab wherein the first and second tabs include a first and second tab protrusion, respectively, wherein each of the first tab and the second is configured to flex so that the first and second tab protrusions engage a horizontal groove on a variable angle drill guide; and a body protrusion on an inner surface of the body, wherein the body protrusion is configured to engage a vertical grove on the variable angle drill guide.

A bone plate includes at least one variable angle locking hole that is configured to threadedly mate with a variable angle locking screw oriented so as to define any angle among a range of angles with respect to a central axis of the VA locking hole at which a threaded head of the locking screw is configured to threadedly purchase with the bone plate in the variable angle locking hole.

A system for bending an implant includes a drill guide extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end, the drill guide including a distal portion having a first threading extending therealong to engage a threading along an interior of a bone fixation element receiving hole of an implant and a proximal portion having a second threading extending therealong and a bending pin extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end including a recess extending proximally therefrom, the recess sized and shaped to receive the proximal portion of the drill guide and including a corresponding threading therealong for engaging the second threading.

A bone plate includes at least one hole extending through the bone plate from an upper plate surface to a lower plate surface along a central hole axis that is oriented along an axial direction. The at least one hole defined by an interior surface of the bone plate. The interior surface further defining a plurality of columns sequentially located about a circumference of the interior surface and a plurality of recesses located circumferentially between the columns. Each of the columns defines a plurality of thread segments each defining a root, a first thread surface extending from the root to a first crest, and a second thread surface extending from the root to a second crest. At least a portion of the first and second thread surfaces are offset from one another at a thread angle. The thread angle of at least one of the thread segments is in a range of about 5 degrees to about 59 degrees.

Threaded locking structures for affixing bone anchors to a bone plate, and related systems and methods

A bone plate includes locking holes that reconfigured to threadedly mate with locking screws to fix the bone plate to an underlying bone. Some of the locking holes are standard-type locking holes. Alternatively or additionally, some of the locking holes are variable-angle locking holes. The bone plate defines a collection cavity in the locking holes that are configured to collect shavings that can be produced if the bone screw is cross threaded in the locking hole.

A bone plate includes an upper surface, an opposed lower surface configured to face a bone, and at least one aperture extending through the bone plate from the upper to the lower surface along a central aperture axis. The aperture is defined by an interior surface of the bone plate. The interior surface defines a plurality of columns sequentially located about a circumference of the interior surface and a plurality of recesses located circumferentially between the columns. Each of the columns is configured to undergo deformation at least in a radial direction perpendicular to the central aperture axis responsive to engagement with a head of a locking bone screw that is receivable within the at least one aperture so as to lock the head to the bone plate. The plurality of columns comprises at least five columns.
