Systems, processes, and computer program products may be used to perform retinal surgery. In particular implementations, a system, a process, and a computer program product may include the ability to inject a retina manipulation fluid into an eye through an injection/extraction system and apply negative pressure to the injection/extraction system to facilitate extraction of fluid from the eye. The system, the process, and the computer program product may also include the ability to adjust the applied negative pressure.

Certain embodiments of an endoilluminator may include a cannula, an intermediate material, and an optical fiber. The cannula has a substantially cylindrical shape that defines an interior region and has a cylindrical axis. The intermediate material is disposed within the interior region. The optical fiber is disposed within the intermediate material and has a fiber optical axis and a distal end configured to emit light. The emitted light has an illumination pattern with an illumination axis that is not parallel to the cylindrical axis.

In various embodiments, a trocar cannula may be configured for insertion into an eye to facilitate insertion and removal of instruments during surgery. The cannula may be affixed to an overcap (to inhibit rotation of the overcap relative to the cannula) that includes a seal. In some embodiments, the seal may be overmolded into the overcap or may include a wafer that is fixed between the cannula and the overcap to inhibit rotation relative to the cannula and the overcap. In some embodiments, the cannula and overcap may snap together through a tab/slot interface in a permanent fashion such that the cannula and overcap may not be separated without damaging the cannula or overcap. In some embodiments, a vent cannula may be receivable in the slit of the seal for allowing fluids to vent from the eye through the cannula (which may include an indentation to frictionally engage the vent).

Disclosed is an exemplary wavelength converting illumination probe having an illumination probe that can be selectively connected to a light source configured to generate light at a first wavelength range. The illumination probe including a lumen defining an aperture in a distal end of the illumination probe for emitting light. The wavelength converting illumination probe further including a wavelength converting element disposed within the lumen of the illumination probe. The wavelength converting element operable for receiving light from the light source at the first wavelength range, and converting the light to a second wavelength range.

A fiber optic illuminator is provided comprising an optics bed, a light source, a collimating lens, and a condensing lens. The light source is mounted in a fixed position with respect to the optics bed. The collimating lens is mounted in a fixed position with respect to the optics bed and collimates at least a portion of the light from the light source. A condensing lens receives the substantially collimated light output and focuses the collimated light output to optically couple to an optical fiber. The condensing lens may be mounted on an adjustable mount. The tolerances of the fixed optical elements i.e. light source and collimating lens allow the fixed optical elements to be positioned with a minimal amount of variation where the variation is determined by manufacturing tolerances associated with these individual elements and their mounts and couple them to the optics bed.

A control display positioning system includes three vertically oriented hinges and a horizontally oriented hinge attached to the back of the control display. Two arms are used to connect the three vertically oriented hinges one to another. In each vertically oriented hinge is a central space for the passage of electrical cables therethrough. Also in each vertically oriented hinge is a washer stack that provides the necessary friction forces for the control display positioning system to remain in a selected position after being repositioned by a user.

An accessory is adapted to removably couple to a laser source connector separate from a fiber connector. The accessory includes a first contact element configured to form an electrical connection to a first portion of the laser source connector. The accessory further includes a second contact element configured to form an electrical connection to a second portion of the laser source connector. The second portion of the laser source connector is electrically insulated from the first portion of the laser source connector. The accessory also includes a network connected to the first contact element and the second contact element. The network establishes a defined electrical characteristic between the first and second contact element when a fiber connector is connected to laser source connector.

In one embodiment, an ink pen includes an ink chamber, a passage and a printhead operatively connected to the ink chamber through the passage such that ink flowing from the ink chamber to the printhead passes through the passage. The passage includes an upstream part having a polygonal cross sectional area and a downstream part having a cross sectional area smaller than the polygonal cross sectional area.

In an implementation of connection pad layouts, a connection assembly includes a substrate assembly and connection pads disposed thereon. The connection pads form a configuration such that each connection pad is configured to align with a different terminal of an interconnect that is warped or otherwise has a non-linear alignment of terminals.

A printhead assembly includes a carrier having a fluid manifold defined therein such that the fluid manifold includes a first chamber and a second chamber; a plurality of printhead dies each mounted on the carrier and communicating with at least one of the first chamber and the second chamber of the fluid manifold; a fluid delivery assembly coupled with the carrier and including a first chamber and a second chamber; and a fluid interconnect fluidically coupling the first chamber of the fluid manifold with the first chamber of the fluid delivery assembly and the second chamber of the fluid manifold with the second chamber of the fluid delivery assembly.

A printhead assembly includes a carrier having a fluid manifold defined therein, and a plurality of printhead dies each mounted on the carrier and including a first nozzle set and a second nozzle set. The fluid manifold includes a first chamber and a second chamber such that the first nozzle set of each of the printhead dies communicates with the first chamber of the fluid manifold and the second nozzle set of each of the printhead dies communicates with the second chamber of the fluid manifold.
