A network device may include one or more processors configured to receive a measurement message en route to a destination via a network, where the measurement message includes a test packet of a two-way active measurement protocol (TWAMP) session. The network device may determine information based on the measurement message. The information may include a timestamp identifying a time associated with the measurement message, and may identify the measurement message. The network device may store or provide the information for determination of network performance information regarding the network device. The network device may transmit the measurement message toward the destination.

Network performance monitoring

A host voltage monitor is provided for a transceiver. The host voltage monitor may include a comparator, which compares two voltages, one representative of the present host voltage, and the other representative of a threshold voltage level for the host voltage, that may indicate an imminent loss of power. Once the threshold is crossed, an alarm and/or a fault warning data packet may be automatically generated before the power fault causes the transceiver to shut down.

Power fault detection in transceivers

A target network transceiver is tested or monitored using an intelligent transceiver programmed to perform such testing and to transmit test results to a remote server. A demarcation unit enclosure is provided that includes two ports for the target and intelligent transceivers that are connected by a direct data link. An interface circuit connecting control interfaces of the two transceiver ports polls the target transceiver and passes polled control information to the intelligent transceiver.
