The invention relates to the field of thermoelectric compositions and devices. Thermoelectric compositions comprise thermoelectric material in a flexible membrane that comprises structural material and voids. Thermoelectric subassemblies comprise thermoelectric material and electrical contact material along and on and surrounding structural material of the flexible membrane. Thermoelectric subassemblies can comprise thermoelectric elements positioned end-to-end in a flexible membrane that can be bent and positioned in a housing that can be adapted to accommodate various types of thermoelectric devices. Methods for making and using thermoelectric compositions, subassemblies, and devices are described.

Flexible and conformable thermoelectric compositions

An array of sensor devices, each sensor including a set of semiconducting nanotraces having a width less than about 100 nm is provided. Method for fabricating the arrays is disclosed, providing a top-down approach for large arrays with multiple copies of the detection device in a single processing step. Nanodimensional sensing elements with precise dimensions and spacing to avoid the influence of electrodes are provided. The arrays may be used for multiplex detection of chemical and biomolecular species. The regular arrays may be combined with parallel synthesis of anchor probe libraries to provide a multiplex diagnostic device. Applications for gas phase sensing, chemical sensing and solution phase biomolecular sensing are disclosed.

Projectile apparatus is provided employing light and sound that may be dispersed over a large area with high intensity to produce a non-lethal, visible and audible countermeasure to temporarily blind and/or disorient one or multiple potential adversaries. The apparatus is suitable for use in tactical scenarios by military, police, and special operations personnel. The apparatus is also suitable for use in training operations for military, police, and special operations personnel. For amusement or recreation, the apparatus may be used in simulated warfare or in games such as paintball.

Non-lethal projectile for disorienting adversaries

The disclosure is directed to a test media reader module including a housing, a membrane, and an optical imager. The housing is configured to receive a test media adapter and has a barrier wall configured to separate the test media adapter from an interior of the housing. The barrier wall includes a window having an interior side and an exterior side. The membrane is transparent to a wavelength useful for imaging test media in the test media adapter. The membrane has a reactive region and overlies at least a portion of the exterior side of the window. The optical imager is located interior to the housing and is configured to image the test media located on the exterior side of the window along an optical path extending through the window and the membrane.
