The tip assembly includes a base portion which is sufficiently rigid to be conveniently insertable onto and removable from a drive end of a motor for the applicator and a tip portion which is securely attached to the base portion either by casting or molding, and is sufficiently soft to provide comfortable contact with the skin, the tip portion having a concave front surface for receiving skin formulations which are applied to the skin, such as the facial skin, of a user during operation of the applicator.

A connector jack usable with a plug having a plurality of plug contacts. The jack includes a body having a receptacle sized and configured to receive the plug therein, a circuit board, and a plurality of contact tines extending within the receptacle. Each tine has a first end fixedly attached to the circuit board and a second free end, and is positioned in the receptacle for contact by a corresponding one of the plug contacts and moved in response thereto in a first direction as the plug is inserted into the receptacle. The jack also includes a plurality of resilient spring members extending within the receptacle, each positioned adjacent to a corresponding one of the tines to be engaged thereby when moved in the first direction by the corresponding plug contact as the plug is inserted into the receptacle, and apply a supplemental force thereto to increase contact force and tine resiliency.

Implementations of a shielded connector system involve connector isolation shielding using shield enclosures to reduce crosstalk and noise transmitted between adjacent signal cable connectors. These implementations allow for manufacture of new equipment and also retrofitting of existing equipment for connector isolation shielding using standard connector configurations without specialized labor intensive terminations for cable and for connectors required of conventional approaches.

A device for cleaving optical fibers having a housing with an internal chamber, a fiber alignment member removably connected to the housing and a fiber cutting member supported by the housing. The alignment member has an opening sized to receive the ferrule of a fiber optic connector and has a stop proximate to the inward end of an opening to engaged the ferrule distal end. The alignment member is quickly interchangeable with another sized and arranged to handle the ferrule of a different type or size connector. The opening is sized to receive ferrule with an optical fiber to be cleaved, and permits the fiber to extend inward beyond the inward end of the opening and into the housing internal chamber. The fiber cutting member is mounted to the housing to cleave the fiber inserted into the opening and cause separation of a cut end of the fiber within the housing internal chamber, and is quickly removable for replacement when the alignment member is disconnected from the housing if a blade thereof is damaged or worn. The alignment member has a user operable lock to unlock the alignment member from the housing. The lock has a release positioned within the housing internal chamber for access by a user through a housing opening sized to provide access to the housing internal chamber. An endcap closes the housing opening and hold a spare fiber cutting member.

A connector jack having a body with a receptacle to receive a plug, a circuit board, and contact tines extending within the receptacle. Each tine has an end attached to the circuit board and a free end, and is moved in response to contact by a corresponding one of the plug contacts in a first direction as the plug is inserted into the receptacle. The jack includes resilient spring members extending within the receptacle, each positioned adjacent to a corresponding one of the tines to be engaged thereby when moved in the direction by the corresponding plug contact as the plug is inserted into the receptacle, and apply a supplemental force to increase contact force and tine resiliency. A tine contact portion has a pair of lateral members that receive a spring engagement portion therebetween and has a recess in which the spring engagement portion is positioned.

An adapter for an optical fiber cleaver for cleaving optical fiber. The optical fiber cleaver includes an opening therein for receiving a connector ferrule of a first category fiber connector containing an unsheathed optical fiber end portion extending therebeyond. The optical fiber cleaver is designed to cleave a portion of the unsheathed optical fiber end portion extending beyond the connector ferrule. The adapter has a tail piece which can hold an unsheathed optical fiber end portion to be cleaved to a selected length prior to insertion into a second category fiber connector. The tail piece has a diameter similar to the ferrule for insertion into the cleaver opening and a length selected to produce a cleaved unsheathed optical fiber end portion of a length needed for the second category fiber connector different than the length cut by the cleaver for the first category fiber connector.
