The exhaust gas flow unit includes a flow duct area () with an exhaust gas outer flow opening () to be positioned directed towards an opening in a circumferential wall of a muffler, a first mounting duct area () with a first mounting opening () for fixing the exhaust gas flow unit at a first wall of the walls, and a second mounting duct area () with a second mounting opening () for fixing the exhaust gas flow unit at a second wall of the walls.

A muffler for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a housing with a circumferential wall. At least one resonator chamber () is defined by the circumferential wall and two base walls (), that are provided in the housing. At least one resonator pipe (), with a first pipe end () and with a second pipe end (), is connected to one of the base walls () in the area of a first opening () in the one of the base walls (). In the alternative or in addition the one of the base walls () traverses an interior space such that the first pipe end () lies outside of the resonator chamber (), with the second pipe end () being fixed to the other base wall ().

Improved mixing of the exhaust gas and a space-saving configuration result if the exhaust gas treatment device () has at least one inlet () which is open towards the inlet region () and if a mixing element () is provided, which connects the inlet region () to a through-flow region () by means of input openings (), wherein at least one first input opening () faces a first side () of the inlet region () and at least one second input opening () faces a second side () of the inlet region ().
