A system for air conditioning at least one partial region of an aircraft includes an air providing device for providing air to be supplied to a region of the aircraft to be ventilated at a desired temperature and pressure. A supply air duct is connected at a first end to the air providing device. A second end of the supply air duct is connected to an air inlet which opens near the floor into the aircraft region to be ventilated. A control device is set up to ensure that the air provided by the air providing device enters the aircraft region to be ventilated via the air inlet at such a speed that the air is distributed near the floor in the aircraft region to be ventilated and rises at heat sources present in the aircraft region to be ventilated.

System and method for air conditioning at least one partial region of an airplane

A mixer assembly for an air-conditioning system comprising a recirculation air line, connectable to a vehicle region to be air-conditioned, to remove recirculation air from the region, and an air-conditioning air line, connectable to an air-conditioning unit to remove conditioned air from the air-conditioning unit. A first mixing region, for mixing the recirculation air with the conditioned air, is connected to the two air lines. A second mixing region, for mixing the first mixing region air with recirculation air, is connected to the recirculation air line and the first mixing region. A mixing device for an aircraft air conditioning system includes a plurality of cold-air supply lines, which are devised to supply cold air to the mixing device. A plurality of warm-air supply lines is further provided, which are devised to supply warm air to the mixing device. A first premixing chamber is connected to the cold-air supply lines and devised to mix the cold air that is fed through the cold-air supply lines into the first premixing chamber. A second premixing chamber is connected to the warm-air supply lines and devised to mix the warm air that is fed through the warm-air supply lines into the second premixing chamber. Finally, a main mixing chamber is connected to the first and the second premixing chambers and devised to mix the cold air premixed in the first premixing chamber with the warm air premixed in the second premixing chamber.

A mixer for an aircraft air conditioning system has first and second fresh air lines and first and second recirculation air lines. A first premixer is connected to the first fresh air line and the first recirculation air line, to mix the fresh air with the recirculation air thereof. A second premixer is connected to the second fresh air line and the second recirculation air line, to mix the fresh air with the recirculation air thereof. A main mixer is connected by a first premixed air line to the first premixer and by a second premixed air line to the second premixer. The main mixer is adapted to be supplied through the first premixed air line and the second premixed air line exclusively with premixed air from the first and/or the second premixer.

An aircraft air-conditioning system includes an air-conditioning unit that is connected by a main fresh-air line to a mixer in order to supply the mixer with fresh air at a desired low temperature. A fresh-air branch line that is connected upstream of the mixer to the main fresh-air line has a flow cross section that is smaller than a flow cross section of the main fresh-air line. In a region of connection of the main fresh-air line to the fresh-air branch line the main fresh-air line and the fresh-air branch line are so formed that a main fresh air flow flowing through the main fresh-air line is deflected, while a fresh air branch flow flowing through the fresh-air branch line experiences substantially no deflection.

A passenger aircraft includes a cabin subdivided into a plurality of cabin zones supplied with feed air from respective supply lines, a plurality of temperature sensors, and an electronic control unit coupled to the plurality of temperature sensors. The plurality of temperature sensors measures a plurality of individual ambient temperature values associated with different locations in at least one of the plurality of cabin zones. The electronic control unit derives a derived ambient temperature value for the at least one cabin zone from the plurality of individual ambient temperature values. The electronic control unit then controls a temperature of the feed air supplied to the at least one cabin zone based on the difference between the derived ambient temperature value and a room temperature target value for the at least one cabin zone.

The present application describes an arrangement and a method for utilizing the heat of waste air for heating the bilge area of aircraft, wherein the bilge area is connected to a heat transfer unit via a first air supply pipe, through which a bilge air flow drawn in from the bilge area flows into the heat transfer unit, wherein the heat transfer unit comprises a second air supply pipe, through which a waste air heat flow to be cooled that is created at another location in the aircraft flows into the heat transfer unit in order to heat the drawn-in bilge air flow, wherein the heat transfer unit comprises a first air discharge pipe, through which the cooled waste air heat flow is discharged, and a second air discharge pipe with a bilge inlet section, and wherein at least a portion of the heated bilge flow is returned to the bilge area via the air discharge pipe and the bilge inlet section.

Arrangement and method for utilizing the heat of waste air for heating the bilge area of aircraft

A system for improving the air quality in a pressure cabin of an aircraft includes a recirculation air circuit in which a portion of the cabin air, referred to as recirculation air, is withdrawn from the pressure cabin, filtered and then recirculated into the pressure cabin. To increase the oxygen partial pressure of the air fed back into the pressure cabin, the quantity of recirculation air is passed wholly or partially through a nitrogen generator which generates nitrogen and an oxygen-containing waste gas from the recirculation air supplied. The oxygen-containing waste gas of the nitrogen generator, together with any remaining quantity of recirculation air untreated by the nitrogen generator, is recirculated into the pressure cabin. The nitrogen generator, to which only recirculation air is supplied, utilizes a pressure gradient existing in flight between the pressure cabin and the outside of the aircraft for nitrogen generation.

Method and device for the air-conditioning of a freight compartment of a cabin of an aircraft

With a method for controlling the temperature of feed air which is injected into the cabin zone of a passenger aircraft, the cabin of which is sub-divided into several cabin zones supplied respectively with specially temperature-controlled feed air, the temperature of the injected feed air is controlled for each cabin zone, dependent upon the deviation of an injection temperature actual value for the feed air injected into the cabin zone in question, measured by sensors, in relation to an injection temperature optimum value. If there is no, or at least no usable reading of the ambient temperature of this cabin zone for a cabin zone, an optimum value for the injection temperature of this cabin zone can be established in accordance with a variation, whereby it is determined upon the basis of the injection temperature optimum values and/or the injection temperature actual values of other cabin zones, whereby the measurement by sensors of the cabin temperature works reliably. In accordance with another variation, the injection temperature optimum value of a cabin zone can be established without measuring ambient temperature by sensors or without reliably measuring ambient temperature from the temperature measured for the external surrounds of the aircraft.

An aircraft air-conditioning system provides ventilation, air-conditioning and fire protection for a below-deck stairwell and cargo hold that may be equipped with passenger sleeping compartment containers. An air mixing unit mixes fresh air and recycled air to supply mixed air through a first supply air main line (,) and a supply air unit (,) into the freight hold (,), and through a second supply air main line (,) into the stairwell (,). A trimming air unit (,A) provides hot bleed air from the aircraft engines into the mixed air supplied through the first and second supply air main lines (,). An exhaust air line (,) extracts exhaust air from the freight hold (,), while an exhaust air supplemental line (,) extracts exhaust air from the stairwell (,), both of which are connected to an exhaust air main line with an exhaust air ventilator (,) that blows the exhaust air overboard. A bypass line (,) provides bypass air if needed for the demands of the ventilator (,). Regulating valves and non-return flap valves in the supply air line and in the exhaust air line regulate the flow of air and prevent back-flow. Temperature sensors are connected to a controller that regulates the temperature of the mixed supply air to achieve a comfortable temperature in the freight hold and in the stairwell. In the event of fire, the air valves are closed, to seal-off the freight hold (,) and prevent the spread of smoke into the stairwell or other ventilated areas.
