Elevator control system, comprising an elevator control device for operating an elevator car which is adapted to be operated within an elevator shaft, and an inspection control station configured to communicate with the elevator control device for operating at least one function of an elevator system in an inspection or maintenance operation mode, and configured for attachment at a storing location, wherein the storing location is at the elevator car or within the elevator shaft or in proximity of the elevator shaft. The inspection control station is adapted to be detachable from the storing location and configured to operate as remote inspection control station when detached from the storing location through wireless communication with the elevator control device, and is configured to be movable and operable in the inspection or maintenance operation mode from inside and outside of the elevator car and within the elevator shaft.

A system for managing elevator power includes a power line connected to a power grid, a motor connected to the power line and configured to receive power from the power line to drive an elevator, an alternative power source connected to the motor, and a power control system configured to control the power line to supply power to the motor to drive the elevator, to detect a predetermined threshold value of power supplied from the power line, and to supply both power from the power line and power from the alternative power source to the motor based on a determination that the predetermined threshold value of power is supplied from the power line.

An elevator control system includes a control power supply, a computing core in communication with the control power supply, a communication power supply in communication with the computing core, and a sleep monitor in communication with the control power supply, the computing core, and the communication power supply. The sleep monitor is disposed to selectively turn on/off the control power supply and the computing core, and the sleep monitor is disposed to selectively change an operating state of the communication power supply to a low voltage state.

An exemplary power supply assembly includes a drive device having a bus capacitor. A switch associated with an input side of the drive device selectively connects the drive device to a power supply. An inductor has an impedance that limits an amount of current supplied to the bus capacitor during an initial charging of the bus capacitor when the switch connects the input side of the drive device to the power supply. A restrictive circuit portion dampens a resonance effect of the inductor. The restrictive circuit portion has a resistance that allows the bus capacitor to charge quickly. The impedance of the inductor has a more significant effect on how quickly the bus capacitor charges than an effect of the resistance. A dampening factor of the restrictive circuit controls a voltage of the bus capacitor during the charging of the bus capacitor.

Method for performing an elevator rescue run

Elevator brake or other drag is checked by establishing (-) baseline motor currents at plural determined positions as the car is moved up and down both empty and with full load. In a normal run (), the load is recorded () and the motor current required to drive the load at rated speed at the next determined position is both predicted () and measured. If the difference between the predicted and actual current exceeds a tolerance (), the car stops at the next floor (), the system is shut down () and a message generated (). When the brake is in proper operating condition, baseline motor current required to move a car with the brake engaged is recorded. Thereafter, a high fraction (such as 90%) of baseline motor current is applied to attempt to move the car. If the car moves, the system is shut down () and a message generated ().

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for calibrating a field-commutated motor (,) when under load, wherein initializing the motor (,) refers to relating data representative of the angle of the rotor in an uncalibrated coordinate system to a coordinate system having a known relationship to the excitation coils (,), typically mounted with the stator (,). The angular data can then be used for exciting the excitation coils (,) in the proper sequence and with the proper timing to obtain the desired speed, torque, direction or rotation, etc. of the motor (,). Test voltages having a known orientation are applied to one of the stator and the rotor, (whichever mounts the excitation coils (,)), and the angle of the rotor produced by the application of each of the test voltages noted. An equation is disclosed for determining an error angle between the uncalibrated and the known coordinate system as a function of the angles of the rotor produced by application of the test voltages. Apparatus for practicing the invention can include a processor (,), a power supply (,), and user input element (,) and a voltage and/or current sensor (,). The processor (,) can include appropriate means for executing the disclosed method steps.

Method and apparatus for initialization and operation of field-commutated motors and machines incorporating field-commutated motors

An elevator system includes an electronic driver which transmits a multi-phased electric current through a relay to a motor driving an elevator car. Under normal operating conditions, the motor uses the current from the driver to move the elevator car in a hoistway. When electric power fails, the elevator car is moved by gravity for any necessary rescue or maintenance operations, and consequently moves the motor. The movement of the motor generates a multi-phased electric current therein. The generated current is utilized to power a display panel of a movement indicator, which is automatically connected to the motor by the relay when power fails in the elevator system. The powered display panel informs the operator of the direction and speed of travel of the elevator car.

Torque current reference I.sub.Tref and reference acceleration a.sub.ref are sampled in a vector controlled induction motor drive for developing a quality criterion by which an estimated rotor time constant .tau..sub.2 may be adapted to the actual rotor time constant .tau..sub.2. More specifically, the torque current reference I.sub.Tref and reference acceleration a.sub.ref are sampled and then a slope of I.sub.Tref versus a.sub.ref is plotted against the offset of that line, which offset is proportional to the lead torque T.sub.LOAD. The no-load slope is then determined from this plot and subtracted from an ideal no-load slope and the difference passed through a proportional-integral circuit for providing an estimated rotor time constant .tau..sub.2 which is adapted to the actual rotor time constant .tau..sub.2.

All N parameters of an induction machine equivalent circuit may be determined by providing a stator voltage such that the induction machine produces no torque, measuring a stator current for at least N-1 frequencies, determining the tangent of the angle .phi. between the stator voltage and stator current at said frequencies, and solving N-1 equations R(.omega.)tan.phi.+X(.omega.)=0, given one of the parameters, said frequency values and said associated values for tangent .phi., where R(.omega.) and X(.omega.) are the real and imaginary components of the complex stator impedance of the induction machine.
