A method of making a brush includes providing a plurality of first filaments, each having a first end and a second end; bringing the plurality of first filaments into a first predetermined shape such that the first ends are arranged side by side on a common contour; fixedly connecting the first ends so that a first pre-tuft having the first predetermined shape and a connected first end is formed; bringing a second tuft element having a first end and a second end together with the first pre-tuft into a second predetermined shape such that the first end of the second tuft element and the connected first end of the first pre-tuft are arranged side by side on a common contour; fixedly connecting the connected first end of the first pre-tuft and the first end of the at least second tuft element so that a final tuft having the second predetermined shape and a connected end is formed; and attaching the final tuft to a brush body by overmolding the final tuft's connected end with a plastic material.

A head for an oral care implement has a mounting surface and at least one twisted tuft including a plurality of filaments and having a base mounted on the mounting surface. The twisted tuft has an outer lateral surface, a longitudinal axis, a lower cross-sectional area extending in a plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and that is arranged at the base, and an upper cross-sectional area extending in a plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and that is arranged at the twisted tuft's free end. The lower cross-sectional area and the upper cross-sectional area have substantially the same shape and size. The filaments forming the outer lateral surface are substantially straight and inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis in either a clockwise direction or in a counterclockwise direction. The upper cross-sectional area is twisted relative to the lower cross-sectional area. The upper cross-sectional area is not congruent with the lower cross-sectional area when they are orthogonally projected onto each other along the longitudinal axis.

An oral cleaning implement can be produced by stapling at least one bristle filament and/or one or more bristle tufts into a tuft hole. Staples used for said stapling may be produced from plastic material by extrusion technology. Said staples may have a cavity formed along one of its axis and optional one or more recesses at its side faces.

A method for producing a brush head for a toothbrush head is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a bristle carrier; providing cleaning elements having first ends which will not be embedded in the bristle carrier and second ends which will be embedded in the bristle carrier, wherein the cleaning elements are selected from at least two different types of cleaning elements or at least two distinctive cleaning elements of the same type; placing the first ends of the cleaning elements in the bristle carrier in a carrier part for holding; and supplying different amounts of heat to the second ends in the bristle carrier by reflecting the heat supplied partially from the carrier part and/or absorbing the heat supplied partially by the carrier part resulting in the second end being molten.

A clamping device for restraining filament tufts in a bristle cluster includes fixed and movable clamping plates. The clamping plates have apertures that are aligned in the unloaded position and that are offset relative to each other in the loaded position. The movable clamping plates can be displaced relative to the fixed clamping plates, and each movable clamping plate secures a specific portion of the bristle cluster.
