A directional vibration control apparatus, which includes a tunable vibration absorber (TVA) for a vibratory compactor machine is provided. The TVA includes a frame mounting structure that is configured to mechanically interface with a frame of the vibratory compactor to provide a fixed attachment of the TVA to the frame of the vibratory compactor, a TVA carrier that extends from the frame mounting structure into an interior portion of a drum of the vibratory compactor machine, a resilient element that includes a first portion that is fixedly attached relative to the TVA carrier and a second portion that includes a degree of freedom of movement relative to the TVA carrier, and a mass that is attached to the second portion of the resilient element and that includes the degree of freedom of movement relative to the TVA carrier.

Directional vibration control apparatus for compactor drum with single eccentric

A vibration assembly for a surface compactor machine includes a support subassembly connected to the compacting surface of the surface compactor machine. A primary eccentric shaft is disposed around a secondary eccentric shaft, with the primary and secondary eccentric shafts both rotatable about a common axis of rotation. One or more of primary bearing subassemblies is disposed between the primary eccentric shaft and the support subassembly for supporting the primary eccentric shaft during rotation of the primary eccentric shaft. One or more secondary bearing subassemblies is disposed between the secondary eccentric shaft and the primary eccentric shaft for supporting the secondary eccentric shaft during rotation of the primary eccentric shaft.

Surface compactor machine having concentrically arranged eccentric masses

A vibratory compactor includes a drum, a frame supporting the drum, an eccentric shaft configured to be rotated by a vibration motor, and a primary eccentric weight attached to the eccentric shaft inside the drum. At least one active isolation eccentric weight is located outside the drum so that when the eccentric shaft is rotated, a phase of a vibration generated by the at least one active isolation eccentric weight is substantially opposite to that of a vibration generated by the primary eccentric weight.

Vibration isolation for compactor

A vibratory compactor comprising an active isolation apparatus for reducing a vibration generated during the rotation of an eccentric shaft having an eccentric weight attached thereto. The active isolation apparatus comprises a drum, a propulsion motor configured to rotate the drum, a drive plate disposed between the propulsion motor and the drum in such a way as to be connected to the propulsion motor to transmit a rotating force to the drum, and a drum support configured to rotatably support the drum. The active isolation apparatus further comprises a first active isolation mass disposed between the drum support and the drum, a second active isolation mass disposed between the drive plate and the drum, an eccentric shaft configured to be rotated while penetrating through the first active isolation mass, the drum, and the second active isolation mass, a primary eccentric weight attached to the eccentric shaft inside the drum, an active isolation eccentric weight attached to each of the eccentric shaft inside the first active isolation mass and the second active isolation mass, and a vibration motor configured to rotate the eccentric shaft. When the eccentric shaft is rotated, a phase of a vibration generated by the active isolation eccentric weights is opposite to that of a vibration generated by the primary eccentric weight, and the vibration generated by the active isolation eccentric weights cancels the vibration generated by the primary eccentric weight.
