A method and system for generating electrical power in which a high pressure synthesis gas stream generated in a gasifier is partially oxidized in an oxygen transport membrane based reactor, expanded and thereafter, is combusted in an oxygen transport membrane based boiler. A low pressure synthesis gas slip stream is split off downstream of the expanders and used as the source of fuel in the oxygen transport membrane based partial oxidation reactors to allow the oxygen transport membrane to operate at low fuel pressures with high fuel utilization. The combustion within the boiler generates heat to raise steam to in turn generate electricity by a generator coupled to a steam turbine. The resultant flue gas can be purified to produce a carbon dioxide product.

Oxygen transport membrane based advanced power cycle with low pressure synthesis gas slip stream

A method and apparatus for producing heat used in a synthesis gas production process is provided. The disclosed method and apparatus include a plurality of tubular oxygen transport membrane elements adapted to separate oxygen from an oxygen containing stream contacting the retentate side of the membrane elements. The permeated oxygen is combusted with a hydrogen containing synthesis gas stream contacting the permeate side of the tubular oxygen transport membrane elements thereby generating a reaction product stream and radiant heat. The present method and apparatus also includes at least one catalytic reactor containing a catalyst to promote the steam reforming reaction wherein the catalytic reactor is surrounded by the plurality of tubular oxygen transport membrane elements. The view factor between the catalytic reactor and the plurality of tubular oxygen transport membrane elements radiating heat to the catalytic reactor is greater than or equal to 0.5.

Oxygen transport membrane system and method for transferring heat to catalytic/process reactors

A method and apparatus for producing a synthesis gas product having one or more oxygen transport membrane elements thermally coupled to one or more catalytic reactors such that heat generated from the oxygen transport membrane element supplies endothermic heating requirements for steam methane reforming reactions occurring within the catalytic reactor through radiation and convention heat transfer. A hydrogen containing stream containing no more than 20 percent methane is combusted within the oxygen transport membrane element to produce the heat and a heated combustion product stream. The heated combustion product stream is combined with a reactant stream to form a combined stream that is subjected to the reforming within the catalytic reactor. The apparatus may include modules in which tubular membrane elements surround a central reactor tube.

Dand D&#x2032; are different from one another. X is a halogen atom or NO; a1 is an integer between 1 to 8; b1 is an integer between 0 and 2(a1)+1&#x2212;c1; c1 is an integer between 0 and 2(a1)+1&#x2212;b1; b1+c1 is at least 1; a2 is an integer between 0 and 8; b2 is an integer between 0 and 2(a2)+1&#x2212;c2; and c2 is an integer between 0 and 2(a2)+1&#x2212;b2. The process can be used in manufacturing or processing electronic devices.

Deposition processes using group 8 (VIII) metallocene precursors

A device for efficient transmission of electromagnetic waves comprising two layers of dielectric separated by a gap or space. The layers may be uniform or laminar, orthogonal or non-orthogonal to the direction of wave propagation, and made of Teflon, quartz, polypropylene, and the like. The preferred distance between layers is an odd multiple of quarter wavelength in the environment between the layers. The preferred thickness of the layers is an odd multiple of half of the effective wavelength for the layer. The device allows over 95% efficiency for transmission into a pressurized vessel for evaporation under high pressure and temperature and does not require a cooling system. The separating space may be connected with a pressure-sensing subsystem to monitor the device's integrity and shut down the system in the event of a breach. A sleeve connecting the device to the vessel may be coated with conductive material for improved efficiency.

Device for transmitting electromagnetic waves through an aperture in a wall

The method measures hydrogen sulfide concentrations in hydride gases in a sealed vessel. The sealed vessel has a gas inlet to receive a stream of hydride gas, a gas outlet to remove the stream of hydride gas and a metal acetate substrate. The stream of hydride gas contains a concentration of hydrogen sulfide gas. Introducing the stream of hydride gas through the gas inlet contacts the acetate substrate with the stream of hydride gas. Reacting the hydrogen sulfide gas contained in the stream of hydride gas with the acetate substrate modifies optical properties of the acetate substrate. Then measuring the optical properties of the acetate substrate determines the concentration of the hydrogen sulfide gas contained in the stream of hydride gas.

Analysis of hydrogen sulfide in hydride gases

The invention is a method of removing materials such as carbon and metallic elements from a substrate surface via heating in an atmosphere of molecular chlorine and steam. In a preferred embodiment, carbon residue is removed from the surface of a Si or GaAs substrate material.
