Novel grafted polymers having backbones formed from unsaturated monomers and having pendent isocyanate containing sidechains derived from isopropenyl-alpha,alpha-dimethylbenzyl isocyanate or copolymers thereof are described. Curable coating and molding compositions employing the novel grafted polymers of the invention in combination with isocyanate reactive materials are also described.

Isopropenyl-alpha, alpha-dimethylbenzyl isocyanate--grafted polymers

New and improved heat curable compositions are disclosed comprising epoxidic resin(s) and aromatic ether-sulfone polyamines, alone or in combination with other diamine curing agents and/or curing catalysts alone, or in further combination with reinforcements, e.g., graphite fibers and, optionally modified with second resins. The cured neat resins and fiber resin matrix compositions exhibit high toughness, compression strength and short beam shear strength under dry, wet and hot/wet conditions.

Curable epoxy resin compositions

High molecular weight, essentially linear, thermoplastic amino-s-triazine resins having an inherent viscosity of at least about 0.55 dl./g. are disclosed, comprising recurring units of the formula: ##STR1## containing not less than 25 wt. % of triamino-s-triazine units of the formula: ##STR2## Such resins are suitable for molding or extrusion into films, fibers and filaments and for preparation of composite materials. Also disclosed is a process for the production of high molecular weight essentially linear, thermoplastic amino-s-triazine resins which comprises reacting, in contact with water, an inert, water-immiscible organic solvent for at least one of the reactants and a basic acid acceptor, substantially equimolar proportions of a triazine compound or a mixture of triazine compounds of the formula: ##STR3## with a diamine or a mixture of diamines of the formula: ##STR4## until a thermoplastic amino-s-triazine resin having an inherent viscosity of at least about 0.55 dl/g., is produced.

Poly(beta-alanine) acts as an effective flocculant in water treatment, especially those waters containing colloidal suspensions. In solution, these polymers exhibit a degree of metastability of significance in the flocculation of effluent substrates.
