The presently disclosed subject matter provides methods, compositions, and kits for the treatment of cancer using a combination treatment comprising a locally administered chemotherapy and an immunotherapeutic agent. The presently disclosed subject matter also provides methods of promoting the combination treatment and instructing a patient to receive the combination treatment are also provided, as well immunotherapeutic, non-immunosuppressive compositions comprising the combination treatment, and methods of using the immunotherapeutic, non-immunosuppressive compositions for treating cancer.

Combination of immunotherapy with local chemotherapy for the treatment of malignancies

A marker for imaging includes a bio-dissolvable material and a contrast agent configured to provide contrast during an imaging procedure. A method can include forming a marker for imaging from a bio-dissolvable material and impregnating the bio-dissolvable material with a contrast agent. A method can include implanting a bio-dissolvable marker for imaging into a patient.

Post-surgical imaging marker

The present invention relates to the field of cancer. More specifically, the present invention provides methods and compositions for treating cancer and predicting patient survival. In one embodiment, a method comprises (a) obtaining a biological sample from the patient; and (b) detecting hypermethylation of ZMIZ1 using primers that specifically bind to CpG island 139 at the alternative promoter of the ZMIZ1 gene.

Use of the ZMIZ1 marker in directing treatment and predicting survival in cancer

An approach combining immune-based therapies with focused radiation, including stereotactic radiation, to treat cancers is disclosed. The use of focused radiation primes the immune system in a similar manner to vaccines to augment immune-based therapies and can counteract the suppressive effects of a tumor. The combination of focused radiation and immune-based therapies, including administration of at least one immunotherapeutic agent, improves survival compared to each therapy alone and can, in some cases, lead to a durable cure. Accordingly, focused radiation can be an adjuvant for immune-based therapies for treating cancers.
