Disclosed is a blade unit for a safety razor comprising a connecting structure for fixing the blade unit to a handle, a blade housing comprising a plurality of blades having cutting edges lying in a shaving plane, and a rear portion next to the plurality of blades, comprising a non-flexible back portion extending parallel to the shaving plane, and a lubricating pad having a flexible portion and a non-flexible portion, the non-flexible portion being arranged on and supported by the non-flexible back portion, the flexible portion extending rearwards from the non-flexible portion beyond the non-flexible back portion to define a rear edge of the rear portion of the blade unit, the flexible portion forming a convex skin-contacting surface when bending away from the shaving plane in use.

The present disclosure describes a blade unit () for a safety razor (). The blade unit comprises a blade housing (), a plurality of blades () disposed within the blade housing () to expose respective cutting edges () suitable for shaving, and a blade carrier supporting the plurality of blades (). The blade housing () has a base on which the blade carrier is supported. The plurality of blades () and the blade carrier being displaceable downwards towards the base of the blade housing () during shaving, wherein an amount of downward displacement of the plurality of blades () and the blade carrier is limited by one or more protrusions extending upwards from the base of the blade housing ().

Disclosed is a blade unit for a safety razor, comprising a blade housing comprising a plurality of blades having respective cutting edges lying in a shaving plane and being arranged to exert a cutting action when moved across a user's skin; and a guard in front of the cutting edges and a cap to the rear of the cutting edges, the guard including an elongate lubricating strip, and the cap including a convex lubricating pad having a convex skin-contacting surface and a rear edge curved in a single arc shape along its entirety. A skin-contacting surface of the convex lubricating pad is greater than a skin-contacting surface of the elongate lubricating strip, the convex lubricating pad and the elongate lubricating strip together extend along at least 60% of an outer perimeter of the blade unit, and the convex lubricating pad extends along at least 30% of the outer perimeter of the blade unit.

Described is a razor handle in the form of an elongated body. The handle has a razor head end with a structure for connecting to a razor head and a free end opposite the razor head end. The handle further has a lower surface on the same side as the cutting edges of the blades when the razor head is connected to the razor handle and an upper surface opposite the lower surface. On the upper surface there is a first gripping area for providing a first gripping position for a finger or thumb of the user and a second gripping area for providing a second gripping position for the finger or thumb. The first and second gripping areas having textured surfaces and are separated from one another by a smooth area of the upper surface.

Disclosed is a blade unit for a safety razor, comprising: a blade housing comprising a plurality of blades having respective cutting edges lying in a shaving plane and being arranged to exert a cutting action when moved across a user's skin in a shaving direction; and a guard in front of the cutting edges and a cap to the rear of the cutting edges, the guard including an elongate lubricating strip, the cap including a non-flexible concave back portion supporting a convex lubricating pad, the convex lubricating pad having a convex skin-contacting surface and a rear edge curved in a single arc shape along its entirety. No separate frame is provided around an outer perimeter for fixing the convex lubricating pad, so that the convex lubricating pad rear edge meets flush with the non-flexible concave back portion, providing a smooth, lubricated rear edge of the blade unit.

Embodiments of the invention include a blade unit for a safety razor, comprising: a connecting structure configured to fix the blade unit to a handle; a blade housing comprising a plurality of blades having respective cutting edges lying in a shaving plane and being arranged to exert a cutting action when moved across a user's skin in a shaving direction; and a rear portion arranged next to the plurality of blades in the shaving direction, comprising a non-flexible concave back portion that arcuately bends away from the shaving plane, and a convex lubricating pad arranged on and being supported by the non-flexible concave back portion and which extends up to a rear edge of the rear portion of the blade unit.
