A panel is disclosed, including a first facesheet, a second face sheet, and a plurality of pultrusion-formed web structures. Each web structure has a middle support portion, a first end portion, and a second end portion. The first end portion of each web structure is attached to the first facesheet and the second end portion of each web structure is attached to the second facesheet. The middle support portion, first end portion, and second end portion of each web structure form a single monolithic structure.

Method of making a device for controlling stress in joints at cryogenic temperatures

An integrated composite structure with a graded coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is formed by selecting a plurality of layers of materials with a graded CTE and using build-up (bottom-up) fabrication approaches such as metal deposition or powder metallurgy to produce a CTE-graded layered composite preform, which is then consolidated and heat treated to create the CTE graded integrated composite billet or near net shape. The integrated composite billet or near net shape is then processed to produce a first surface for attachment of a first structural member having a first CTE and to produce a second surface of for attachment of a second structural member having a second CTE.

Apparatus and methods provide for a non-linear scarf joint and a method for joining two components utilizing a non-linear scarf joint. A non-linear scarf joint includes multi-planar surfaces on connection ends of two components being joined to create a structure. Each multi-planar surface includes a first faying surface, a second faying surface, and a transition faying surface joining the first and second faying surfaces. A transition scarf angle associated with the transition faying surface is different than scarf angles associated with the first and second faying surfaces.

The assembly further includes a composite flute core member, having a tapered first portion secured to the first tapered section; a second portion secured to the first composite face sheet; and a third portion which extends in the second direction, away from the tapered first portion, toward the first end of the first composite face sheet secured to the second section.
