Systems and methods for treating an ocular condition includes a heating chamber comprising a material expandable when heated and comprising a flow passage having an inlet and an outlet. A heating element is arranged and disposed to introduce heat in the heating chamber. A flexible diaphragm separates the heating chamber from the flow passage, and is moveable between a first position and a second position to change a volume of one of the pump chamber and flow passages in response to a temperature change in the heating chamber.

An IOP monitoring device for implantation in an eye of a patient may include a first tube having a first opening, the first tube being configured to extend into the anterior chamber. An intraocular pressure sensing (IOP) device for implantation in an eye of a patient may include a pressure sensor, a pressure sensor cap, and a tube coupled to a chamber inlet. The pressure sensor cap may include a recess having an inner surface, the recess configured to receive the pressure sensor such that a chamber is formed by the pressure sensor and the inner surface and a chamber inlet permitting a fluid to communicate with the chamber and be primed in a bubble-free manner. The tube may be coupled to the chamber inlet to allow fluid communication between an anterior chamber of the eye and the chamber.

Systems and methods for priming an intraocular pressure sensor in an intraocular implant

An IOP control device for implantation in an eye of a patient is disclosed. The device includes a housing and a multilayer membrane. The housing is sized for implantation into the eye and includes an entrance port and an exit port. The membrane is anchored within the housing to form a flow control chamber on a first side and a fluid flow passageway on a second opposing side of the membrane. The chamber is arranged to contain a gas creating a chamber pressure, and the membrane is configured to affect flow through the passageway from the entrance port to the exit port by deflecting in response to changes in the chamber pressure. The membrane comprises a first layer having a higher permeability and a higher flexibility than the second layer, which is disposed adjacent the first layer and restricts the diffusion of gas in the chamber through the membrane.

Multilayer membrane actuators

A membrane actuator device includes a housing with an entrance port and an exit port connected by a fluid flow passageway. A gas generation chamber is disposed within the housing, the gas generation chamber comprising a first opening and a gas generating element. A membrane actuation chamber has a second opening and may be defined at least in part by a flexible membrane configured to deflect and affect fluid flow through the fluid flow passageway. A barrier spans the width of the first opening of the gas generation chamber and is disposed in a manner that reduces the likelihood that gas molecules will pass from the gas generation chamber to the membrane actuation chamber.

Reduction of gas escape in membrane actuators

In various embodiments, an ophthalmic injection device may include a dispensing chamber, a first thermal sensor coupled to the dispensing chamber, a temperature control layer coupled to the dispensing chamber, a second thermal sensor coupled to the dispensing chamber, and a first processing device. The first processing device may be configured to receive temperature information from the first thermal sensor and the second thermal sensor and control the temperature control layer using the received temperature information. In some embodiments, the first processing device may receive temperature information directly from the second thermal sensor (e.g., in analog form) and may compare the temperature information from the first thermal sensor (e.g., received from the second processing device in digital form) and the second thermal sensor to detect temperature offsets between the two sensors.

Multiple thermal sensors in a multiple processor environment for temperature control in a drug delivery device

In one embodiment the present invention provides a wireless communication system for medical sensor data. This communications system includes a portable unit that connects to a wireless sensor and a monitor unit that connects to a sensor monitor. Once activated, the units will self organize into a wireless communication structure controlled by the portable unit. As other pairs of units activate, they can self-organize their transmissions by joining an existing network or by creating new networks.
