A data filtering system includes a display device and a data filtering engine coupled to the display device. The data filtering engine is configured to display a cell set containing data of a common data type on a display device with at least one cell containing a cell entry. The data filtering engine is further configured to display a filter icon within at least one cell of the cell set and apply a filter to the cell set in response to selection of the filter icon by a user.

Data filtering based on a cell entry

A method for data filtering includes displaying on a display device a cell set including data of a common data type, and displaying a first filter icon within a first cell of the cell set and a second filter icon within a second cell of the cell set. The first cell includes a first cell entry and the second cell includes a second cell entry. The first filter icon filters based on the first cell entry and the second filter icon filters based on the second cell entry. The method further includes applying a filter to the cell set in response to selection of the first filter icon by a user, the filter being based on the first cell entry.

A computer receives one or more sets of historical data points, wherein each set of historical data points corresponds to a component. The computer normalizes the one or more sets of historical data points. The computer receives and normalizes a first set of additional data points corresponding to a first set of the one or more sets and a second set of additional data points corresponding to the second set of the one or more sets. The computer creates a first visual representation corresponding to the first set of the one or more sets and the first set of additional points and a second visual representation corresponding to the second set of the one or more sets and the second set of additional data points.

A method for data filtering includes displaying a cell set comprising data of a common data type on a display device. At least one cell contains a cell entry, displaying a filter icon within at least one cell of the cell set, and applying a filter to the cell set in response to selection of the filter icon by a user.

Development tools are disclosed that connect various artifacts in a database aware fashion. For example, the development environment may integrate SQL query builders across multiple application development interfaces (e.g., a source code editor, XML editor, database scripting tools, etc.), significantly improving developer productivity, reducing development cost and time. Further, developers may customize and extend the rapid application development features to suit their development needs in a particular case. In a particular embodiment, the rapid application development template may be configured to generate a set of configuration files localized used to deploy a 'lightweight' application, such as a web-service, to a particular application server.

A technique is provided for generating one or more XML documents from a relational database using the XPath data model. Data stored on a data storage device that is connected to a computer is transformed. Initially, a document object model tee is generated using a document access definition, which defines the mapping between an XML tree structure and relational tables. The document object model tree is traversed to obtain information to retrieve relational data. The relational data is mapped to one or more XML documents.

Generating one or more XML documents from a relational database using XPath data model

A technique is provided for creating metadata for fast search of XML documents stored as column data. Data is stored in a data store connected to a computer. A main table is created in a relational database management system, wherein the main table has a column for storing an extensible markup language (XML) document in a native XML format One or more side tables are created in the relational database management system, wherein each side table has one or more columns that store one or more attributes extracted from die XML document for fast searching of the XML document. Thereafter, the side tables are used to locate data in the main table.

A dialog window for use in a filtering process provides filtering criteria based upon a limited number of object properties. Each property has an associated criterion input comprising an operator input and a value input which together with the associated property specify a filtering criterion. The dialog window preferably includes a limited number of properties, such as two or three properties, for simplicity and ease of use. Each property further has a selector in the form of a check box by which the user selects the operant filter criteria. The dialog window additionally includes a count button by which the user may update a count display which indicates the number of objects which will be returned using the presently entered filtering criteria.

A technique is provided to store fragmented XML data into a relational database by decomposing XML documents with application specific mappings. Data stored on a data store that is connected to a computer is transformed. Initially, an XML document containing XML data is received. A document access definition that identifies one or more relational tables and columns is received. The XML data is mapped from the application DTD to the relational tables and columns using the document access definition by generating a first document object model tree using the XML document, generating a second document object model tree using the document access definition, and mapping the data from the first document object model tree into columns in one or more relational rabies using the second document object model tree.

Storing fragmented XML data into a relational database by decomposing XML documents with application specific mappings

A technique is provided for generating one or more XML documents from a single SQL query. Data stored on a data storage device that is connected to a computer is transformed. A query is received that selects data stored in a relational database management system on the data storage device, wherein a data access definition defines: (1) a collection of one or more tables in the relational database management system for storing attributes from an XML document, (2) how data stored in the tables maps to the XML document, (3) a query for mapping the data stored in the tables to the XML document, and (4) a table that will contain the XML document after the XML document is generated. Then, one or more XML documents are generated from the selected data using the data access definition.

Generating one or more XML documents from a single SQL query

A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for data visualization of queries over joins. One or more commands are executed in a computer to perform a database operation on a relational database stored on a data store connected to the computer. Initially, a selection of a join indicator associated with a row of a table in the relational database is received. It is determined whether to perform a table level join operation or a row level join operation. The determined join operation is performed.

Data visualization of queries over joins

A computer system responds to a user query by providing a screen which displays a response that is influenced by prior expressed preferences of the user. The computer system includes a knowledge base of data pertaining to one or more subjects. The system monitors a user's entries and records priority information regarding data preferences of the user. Upon receiving a user's query regarding a selected subject in the knowledge base, the system selects a template for responding to the user's query. The template contains both fixed and variable fields and the system inserts replacement data in the variable fields. The replacement data is selected in accord with recorded priority information relating to the selected subject. The priority information enables a sorting of the replacement data so as to provide data to the user which is inferentially related to the user's prior entry history.
