Exemplary embodiments provide a refrigeration system having an interior space cooled by a plurality of cooling. Each cooling unit is capable of operating either synchronously when in communication with a control panel or under independent operation. Each cooling unit is modularly and replaceable without the use of tools by means of a quick connect system. The cooling units use a heat exchanger cooled by chilled water and make use of an electronic super heat control and electronic expansion valve to regulate the flow of refrigerant for improved efficiency.

A warming chamber defining a heated internal cavity is presented having a door that may be opened or closed to provide access to the cavity for the storage of, for example, food products. The chamber includes a temperature sensor that sends signals to a control regarding the sensed temperature within the cavity. The control then activates heating elements when necessary to maintain the cavity at a predetermined temperature. The control further senses when the door has been opened, and supplies a power boost to the heating elements in anticipation of a cooling effect even though a temperature drop within the cavity has not yet been sensed.

Method and apparatus for anticipating rapid temperature fluctuations within an enclosed heated cavity

A controller controls the running speed of a variable speed motor of the type which runs at a speed related to the duty cycle of a pulse width modulated drive voltage applied to it and to the load being applied. The controller includes a setting switch for setting the motor running speed and a device for measuring the load being applied to the motor. Also included is a data storage for storing data representing a plurality of different pulse width modulation duty cycles for driving the motor at various desired motor running speeds and with various loads being applied to the motor. A processor is operatively connected to the setting switch, the load measuring device and the data storage for generating signals representing a particular duty cycle corresponding to a desired running speed setting and applied load to result in the desired motor speed. The processor generates these signals at a predetermined time interval to reach and maintain the desired motor speed. A voltage applying device is provided for applying the pulse width modulated voltage having the particular duty cycle to the motor.
