A weaving apparatus includes a weaving machine and a shedding machine that carries out activatable and deactivatable movements of the shedding devices with a shedding drive that is controlled independently of a weaving drive of the weaving machine. After detection of an operating malfunction, e.g. a weft fault or a warp fault, the shedding devices are controlled such that measures for eliminating the operating malfunction can be carried out. In that regard, the rotational speed of the weaving machine is reduced, but the shedding machine is further operated at a relatively high rotational speed, preferably without stopping the shedding machine while the malfunction is eliminated. Then, the speed of the weaving machine is increased and again essentially synchronized with the shedding machine, to resume the regular weaving operation.

Method for operating a weaving machine comprising a shedding machine

A reed drive of a loom includes a reed shaft connected to a reed. A conversion gearing having an input element and an output element is provided at each end of the reed shaft. The input elements are coupled to driven shafts of electromotive rotary drives to produce a common rotational motion with the same rotational speed as the driven shafts. The conversion gearings convert the rotating motion of their input elements into a reversible rotation of the output elements, and the output elements are coupled to the reed shaft in a rotationally fixed manner. Thus, the number of complete rotations of an input element is equal to the number of complete motion cycles of the reed shaft per unit of time.

Reed drive of a loom

A method achieves highly constant energy in the operation of a loom and shedding machine with separated drive technology, and ensures the run-up in one weft insertion for the loom and if necessary also for the shedding machine. The control arrangement controlling the electric motor drive of the loom and shedding machine includes a computer arrangement which, depending on machine and/or weaving technical data, determines the applicable size of the moment of inertia of a non-inherent inertial mass with which at least the shedding machine is to be equipped, and the at least one non-inherent inertial mass is arranged in such a manner, so that the determined size of the moment of inertia becomes effective in the operation of the shedding machine.

Method for operating a drive assembly of a loom and shedding machine comprising divided drive technology

A drive arrangement is constructed for permitting the separate operation of a weaving machine and a shed forming machine. The drive arrangement compensates any r.p.m. variations of the weaving machine drive and of the shed forming machine relative to the drive shaft of the respective machine. This drive arrangement permits keeping the energy drawn from the electrical supply network during the start phase and the drive power to be provided for a normal operation of the weaving machine and of the shed forming machine optimally low.

Drive arrangement for a weaving loom and shedding machine

A method of operating a weaving machine and a shedding machine aims, to achieve so-called soft starts and soft stops, in particular, of the shedding machine. The weaving machine is equipped with an electromotive main drive and the shedding machine is equipped with an electromotive auxiliary drive. In the method the shedding machine is started at a time point (t) that lies before the starting time point of the weaving machine, and, upon a triggered interruption of the weaving process, a shedding machine comes to the standstill at a time point (t) that lies after the standstill time point (t) of the weaving machine.

Method for operating a weaving and shedding machine

A direct drive for a loom reed includes a linear motor carrying out a linear oscillating motion, or an arc segment motor carrying out a pivoting oscillating motion, or a circular coaxial motor carrying out a pivoting oscillating motion. The circular coaxial motor has a hollow shaft rotor arranged within a hollow shaft stator, and may further have an additional hollow shaft stator arranged within the rotor in a sandwich motor construction. The arc segment motor and the linear motor may similarly have a rotor member sandwiched between two stator members. Two motor units can be provided respectively above and below the weaving plane to drive the reed together. With these measures, the driving force is increased, yet the drive arrangement is confined to the available installation space.
